Michael May (racing Driver)
Michael May (born 18 August 1934 in Stuttgart, Germany) is a former racing driver and engineer from Switzerland. He participated in three Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, debuting on 14 May 1961. He scored no championship points. After a crash during practice for the 1961 German Grand Prix, May concentrated on engineering, helping to develop a fuel injection system for Porsche and Ferrari. May is generally credited with introducing the first manipulated elevated wing onto a racing car - a Porsche 550 Spyder- to produce downforce (or down thrust) for enhanced braking and cornering speeds to reduce lap times. The modified 550 was entered by May and his brother Pierre in the 1956 1000km of Nürburgring. During qualifying, the car lapped the circuit four seconds faster than the Porsche factory team 550s. Mike May (born June 22, 1945, in Hobbs, New Mexico) was the Iowa State Representative from the 6th District. He served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2005 through 2011. He received his BA from Simpson College and his MS from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Michael G. May (born 1953) is an American business executive, skier and enthusiast of other sports who was blinded by a chemical explosion at the age of three, but regained partial vision in 2000, at the age of 46, after cornea transplants and a pioneering stem cell procedure by San Francisco ophthalmologist Daniel Goodman. In 1999, May founded the Sendero Group in Davis, California, United States, which employs many individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Sendero has assisted those with sight disabilities by producing the first accessible GPS solution for blind persons. The Sendero Group's GPS technology received the Consumer Electronics Show's "Innovation Honoree" title in 2004 and 2009. Among his many accomplishments, May holds the record for downhill skiing by a person who is completely blind (racing at 65 mph). Michael May (cricketer)
Michael Robert May (born 22 July 1971) is a former English cricketer who played for Derbyshire between 1989 and 1999. He made his debut appearances for Derbyshire at the 1989 Second XI Trophy, but made no contribution with either bat or ball. He appeared steadily in the same competition until 1996, when he began to make an impact in the first team, debuting against a combined team of Indian batsmen and bowlers from around the country. He almost managed to score a half century on debut, turning out the next week for his debut County championship match. He played in the County Championship regularly for two seasons, before making his final appearances as a cricketer in the Second XI trophy in July 1999. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler.
