Mike Lake (politician)
Michael Stanley Lake (born June 4, 1969) is a Canadian politician, businessman, and sports executive in Alberta, Canada who represented the riding of Edmonton—Mill Woods—Beaumont from 2006 to 2015 and has represented Edmonton—Wetaskiwin since 2015. He is a member of the Conservative Party of Canada and served as Parliamentary Secretary of Industry under Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Early and personal life Lake was born in New Westminster, British Columbia. He grew up in Devon, Alberta and obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta. After graduating from university, he began a career with the Edmonton Oilers ice hockey team as a sales manager and director of ticket sales as their national accounts manager. He has two children, his son is autistic and as a result he is a longtime member of the Edmonton Autism Society. He is involved in the Alberta Foster Care Program. Michael Charles Lake (born 16 November 1966), commonly known as Mike Lake, is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Lake was born in Manchester. After being a peripheral figure in his first few seasons at Sheffield United and hindered by injuries, Lake then featured more regularly in the early 1990s once United were back in the old First Division. Lake's time at United is best remembered during the 1991–92 season where he had a consistent spell in the team and scored four times in four games, all of which were opportunist and often spectacular. Lake, with his distinctive long hair and sudden goal scoring streak, became a cult-hero at United and as a result of the spectacular goals the Blades fans nicknamed Lake, Mike "Zico" Lake, after the famous Brazilian footballer Arthur Antunes Coimbra, better known as Zico. Adam Said Galore are a three piece indie rock band from Perth, Western Australia. Formed in 1994, the founding mainstays are Matt Maguire on drums, Andrew Ryan on guitar and lead vocals, and Simon Struthers on bass guitar. The group have released two albums, ''The Driver Is Red'' (12 March 2001) and ''Of Lost Roads'' (11 November 2002). History Adam Said Galore were formed in 1993, by Michael Lake on guitar, Matt Maguire on drums, Andrew Ryan on guitar and lead vocals, and Simon Struthers on bass guitar, in the Perth suburb of Greenwood. The Seville Expo '92 was a universal exposition that took place from Monday, April 20 to Monday, October 12, 1992, on La Isla de La Cartuja (Charterhouse Island), Seville, Spain.
