Michael Kyaw Myint
Michael Kyaw Myint Hua Hu ( my, ကျော်မြင့်; ), also known as Zakhung Zung Sau, is a Sino-Burmese businessman, known for his ties to the United Wa State Army (UWSA) and for founding the now-defunct United Democratic Party. Early life Kyaw Myint was born in 1951, in Kachin State, Burma (now Myanmar). He married Nan Bauk, the youngest daughter of Zau Mai, a high-ranking officer in the United Wa State Army and Communist Party of Burma, of Kachin descent. Kyaw Myint became intimately involved in the UWSA's illicit business activities, including heroin and methamphetamine trafficking. Criminal activities Money laundering In the 1990s, Kyaw Myint established Myanmar Kyone Yeom, to launder the UWSA's drug proceeds. The company was ultimately closed in 1998 by the Myanmar Investment Commission for involvement in money laundering activities. Kachin State
Kachin State ( my, ကချင်ပြည်နယ်; Kachin: ), also known by the endonym Kachinland, is the northernmost state of Myanmar. It is bordered by China to the north and east (Tibet and Yunnan, specifically and respectively); Shan State to the south; and Sagaing Region and India (Arunachal Pradesh) to the west. Mandalay Central Prison
Mandalay Central Prison ( my, မန္တလေးဗဟိုအကျဉ်းထောင်), informally known as Obo Prison (), is a major prison located in Aungmyethazan Township, Mandalay, Myanmar (formerly Burma). The prison is adjacent to the Obo railway station, and located northeast of the city centre, at the foot of Mandalay Hill. The prison has a capacity of 4,833 inmates. Mandalay Central Prison has housed many prominent political prisoners, including Zaw Myint Maung, Ye Lwin, and Win Htein.
