Michael Kim (businessman)
Michael ByungJu Kim (born 1963) is a Korean American billionaire businessman. He is the co-founder and partner of MBK Partners, a private equity firm headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. He has been called the "Godfather of Asian private equity". Early life Michael B. Kim was born in Jinhae, South Gyeongsang Province in 1963. Kim graduated from Haverford College in 1985 with a degree in English. Kim received an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1990 and received a Fulbright Scholarship afterwards. Career Kim begin his career as a mergers and acquisitions banker at Goldman Sachs after graduating from Harvard. In 1995, he joined Salomon Smith Barney, where he became Managing Director and COO of Asia-Pacific Investment Banking. He later joined the Carlyle Group as a president of Carlyle Asia until 2005. Jinhae
Jinhae-gu (Hangul: 진해구, Hanja: 鎭海區) is a district in Changwon City, South Korea. This region is served by the Korean National Railroad, and is famous for its annual cherry blossom festival every spring. The city front is on a sheltered, island-studded bay, and is almost completely surrounded by mountains covered with pine trees. The emblem of Jinhae contains a cherry blossom. POSCO (formerly Pohang Iron and Steel Company) is a South Korean steel-making company headquartered in Pohang, South Korea. It had an output of of crude steel in 2015, making it the world's fourth-largest steelmaker by this measure. In 2010, it was the world's largest steel manufacturing company by market value. Park Tae-joon
Park Tae-joon (September 29, 1927 – December 13, 2011) was a South Korean business tycoon, war hero, political leader, and philanthropist. His most renowned accomplishment includes founding of POSCO and growing it into one of the world's largest and most successful steel companies during his multi-decade tenure as Chairman and CEO. For this, he was often called the "Korean Andrew Carnegie".
