Michael Kerruish
His Honour John Michael Kerruish QC (2 November 1948 – 14 July 2010) was a Manx lawyer, who was the First Deemster and Clerk of the Rolls on the Isle of Man. Deemster
A Deemster ( gv, briw) is a judge in the Isle of Man. The High Court of Justice of the Isle of Man is presided over by a deemster or, in the case of the appeal division of that court, a deemster and the Judge of Appeal. The deemsters also promulgate the Laws on Tynwald Day by reading out brief summaries of them in English and Manx. In the past, the First and Second Deemsters had ex officio seats in the Legislative Council of the Isle of Man. The Second Deemster was removed from the council in 1965 and the First Deemster in 1975. There are currently (2017) three full-time Deemsters. These are the First Deemster and Clerk of the Rolls (who is also the Deputy Governor), the Second Deemster, and an additional full-time Deemster. The offices of First Deemster, Second Deemster and Clerk of the Rolls are ancient offices. Douglas High School For Boys
St Ninian's High School ( gv, Schoill Ard Noo Ninian) is a secondary school located in Douglas and Onchan, on the Isle of Man. The School is set over two different sites, catering for different year groups. History The modern institution originated as a 1985 union of previously independent upper and lower schools. The lower dates to 1894, originally based at Park Road in central Douglas. The upper school, Douglas High School for Boys was founded in 1927 at Ballaquayle. Alumni of the high school formed the football club Douglas High School Old Boys A.F.C. A review of secondary education in Douglas in 1985 formed St. Ninians, establishing a new name and uniting the two parts. In 1998, staff member Alex Townsend developed the Manx Telecomputer Bus program, which saw the development of a mobile IT classroom. Vice-Admiral Sir Paul Kenneth Haddacks, KCB (born 27 October 1946) is a retired senior officer of the Royal Navy who served as Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man from 2005 to 2011. Early life Haddacks was born on 27 October 1946. He was educated at Kingswood School, in Bath. Military career Having attended the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Haddacks joined the Royal Navy in 1964 and specialised in navigation. He commanded successively the frigates HMS ''Cleopatra'' and HMS ''Naiad''. He went on to be assistant director of Navy Plans in the Ministry of Defence and was later given command of the assault ship HMS ''Intrepid''. He became Senior Naval Officer Middle East and commander of UK maritime forces during Operation Desert Shield in 1990, Assistant Chief of Staff Policy and Requirements Division at SHAPE in 1994 and UK Military Representative to NATO in 1997. The Legislative Council ( gv, Yn Choonceil Slattyssagh) is the upper chamber of Tynwald, the legislature of the Isle of Man. The abbreviation "LegCo" is often used. The Attorney General ( gv, Yn Turneyr Theayagh or Yn Ard-Turneyr) of the Isle of Man is the government's top legal adviser and has an ''ex officio'' (non-voting) seat in the Legislative Council and in Tynwald Court. Queen's Counsel
In the United Kingdom and in some Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth countries, a King's Counsel (Post-nominal letters, post-nominal initials KC) during the reign of a king, or Queen's Counsel (post-nominal initials QC) during the reign of a queen regnant, queen, is a lawyer (usually a barrister or advocate) who is typically a senior trial lawyer.
