Michael Keating (born 2 February 1950) is a political scientist specialising in nationalism, European politics, regional politics, and devolution. He is Professor of Scottish Politics at the University of Aberdeen and Fellow of the Centre on Constitutional Change at the University of Edinburgh. Early life Keating was born in North East England to Scottish and Irish parents. He holds British, Irish, and Canadian citizenships. Keating holds a BA from the University of Oxford and a PhD from Glasgow College of Technology, now the Glasgow Caledonian University. Academic career Keating was previously Professor of Political Science at the University of Western Ontario, Canada and between 1979 and 1988, taught at the University of Strathclyde. Michael Stockton "Mike" Keating (born 25 January 1940) is a retired Australian senior public servant. Early life Michael Keating was born in 1940. Keating graduated from the University of Melbourne with a first class honours degree in economics. He then studied at the Australian National University, attaining his PhD in 1967. Career Keating was appointed Secretary of the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations in May 1983. In 1986 Keating shifted to head the Department of Finance. In 1991, Prime Minister Paul Keating (no relation) recommended that Michael Keating be appointed as Secretary to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. Michael Keating (born 29 September 1946) is an Irish former politician. Early life Keating was born in Dublin in 1946. He was educated at the Christian Brothers O'Connell School, University College Dublin, and St. Patrick's College in Maynooth where he received a Bachelor of Arts. He worked as a secondary school teacher before becoming involved in politics. Political activity He unsuccessfully contested the 1973 general election for Fine Gael, in Dublin Central, but was elected to Dublin City Council in 1974. He became Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1983. He was successful in his second attempt at a seat in Dáil Éireann at the 1977 general election, being elected for Dublin North-Central. Michael "Babs" Keating (born 17 April 1944) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer who played as a forward for the Tipperary senior teams. Born in Ardfinnan, County Tipperary, Keating first played competitive Gaelic games during his schooling at CBS High School Clonmel. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor teams in both codes, before later joining the under-21 sides. He joined the senior football panel during the 1960 championship before being added to the senior hurling panel four years later. Keating was a regular member of the starting fifteen on both teams, and won two All-Ireland medals, four Munster medals and two National Hurling League medals. Michael Joseph Keating (born January 21, 1957) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger who played in one National Hockey League game for the New York Rangers during the 1977–78 season, on January 29, 1978 against the Los Angeles Kings. Michael Keating (born 10 February 1947 in Edmonton, England) is an English actor. He is best known for his role as Vila Restal in the science fiction television series ''Blake's 7''. Career Keating's acting career began in 1966. One of his earlier notable roles was as Goudry in a 1977 '' Doctor Who'' story, entitled ''The Sun Makers''. Just over a month later, Keating first appeared in the role of Vila Restal in the BBC TV series ''Blake's 7'', which aired from 1978 to 1981. Vila Restal was the only character to appear in all fifty-two episodes of the series.
