Michael J. Tully Jr.
Michael J. Tully Jr. (July 23, 1933 – August 5, 1997) was an American lawyer and politician from New York. Life Michael Tully was born on July 23, 1933, in New York City, the son of two Irish immigrants. He graduated from St. John's University and St. John's University School of Law. He practiced law in Roslyn, and entered politics as a Republican. He was an Assistant D.A. of Nassau County; a member of the Town Council of North Hempstead from 1968 to 1971; and Supervisor of the Town of North Hempstead from 1972 to 1982. On April 20, 1982, he was elected to the New York State Senate (7th D.), to fill the vacancy caused by the death of John D. Caemmerer. He was re-elected several times, and remained in the State Senate until his death in 1997, sitting in the 184th, 185th, 186th, 187th, 188th, 189th, 190th, 191st and 192nd New York State Legislatures. Elaine Phillips
Elaine Phillips is an American politician who currently serves as Nassau County Comptroller, with a term beginning in January 2022. She was elected to the position in a landslide victory, defeating Democrat Ryan Cronin 61%-39% to succeed retiring incumbent Jack Schnirman. Phillips previously represented the New York State Senate's 7th district, and had previously served as the 18th Mayor of Flower Hill, New York. She is a Republican. Phillips was elected to the Senate in 2016, but was defeated in her 2018 re-election bid. Life and career Phillips was born and raised in Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of John Reidman, a steel worker who died when she was 12, and Betty Reidman, who worked as a cook at a local American Legion post. North Hempstead is one of three towns in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 237,639 at the 2020 census. History The area was first settled by Europeans around 1643 and became part of the town of Hempstead. During the American Revolution the southern part of Hempstead was primarily Tory, while the northern part, having been settled by Yankees, supported the revolution. New Hyde Park
New Hyde Park is a village in the Towns of Hempstead and North Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. It is the anchor community of the Greater New Hyde Park area. The population was 9,712 at the 2010 census. History Thomas Dongan, the fourth royal governor of New York, was granted an 800-acre parcel of land in 1683 that included New Hyde Park. Heart Attack
A myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when blood flow decreases or stops to the coronary artery of the heart, causing damage to the heart muscle. The most common symptom is chest pain or discomfort which may travel into the shoulder, arm, back, neck or jaw. Often it occurs in the center or left side of the chest and lasts for more than a few minutes. The discomfort may occasionally feel like heartburn. Other symptoms may include shortness of breath, nausea, feeling faint, a cold sweat or feeling tired. About 30% of people have atypical symptoms.
