Michael Hunter (historian)
Michael Cyril William Hunter (born 1949) is emeritus professor of history in the department of history, classics and archaeology and a fellow of Birkbeck, University of London. Hunter is interested in the culture of early modern England. He specialises in the history of science in seventeenth- and early eighteenth-century England, particularly the work of Robert Boyle. In Noel Malcolm's judgement, Hunter "has done more for Boyle studies than anyone before him (or, one might almost say, than all previous Boyle scholars put together)". Education Hunter read history at Jesus College, University of Cambridge, England from 1968 to 1972. He then attended Worcester College, Oxford, where he received a DPhil. Michael Wayne Hunter (born 1958) was a death row prisoner and writer at San Quentin State Prison in the U.S. state of California. He was incarcerated for murdering his father and stepmother in 1981. Prior to committing his crime, he served four years in the United States Navy. He was married to Teresa "Terri" Hunter, but divorced in 1989. Originally given a sentence of death in May 1984, his sentence has since been commuted to life without the possibility of parole after a retrial in February 2002. Crime and trial On the evening of December 28, 1981, Jay and Ruth Hunter, Michael's father and stepmother, were shot to death in the bedroom of their home in Pacifica, California. Michael Hunter (born 5 May 1978) is a British professional boxer who competed from 2000 to 2012. He challenged once for the vacant IBF super bantamweight title in 2006. At regional level, he held the British super bantamweight title from 2004 to 2005; the Commonwealth super bantamweight title in 2005; and the EBU European super bantamweight title from 2005 to 2006. Mike Hunter (born September 14, 1959 – died February 8, 2006) was an American professional boxer who won the USBA Heavyweight title and the WBC Continental Americas Cruiserweight title. Professional career Known as "The Bounty Hunter", Hunter was a colourful and erratic Heavyweight fringe contender during the early-to-mid 1990s, and was known for his unique boxing style, boxing skills, and good defense. Michael Hunter, Jr. (born July 10, 1988) is an American professional boxer who challenged for the WBO junior heavyweight title in 2017. As an amateur he won the National Championships as a super heavyweight in 2007 and 2009, and qualified for the 2012 Olympics in the heavyweight division. He is the son of late professional boxer Mike "the Bounty" Hunter. Mike Hunter (born May 7, 1947) was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia for the riding of Nanaimo, he served in that capacity from 2001 to 2005. Mike Hunter is a retired U.S. soccer defender (football), defender who played five seasons in the North American Soccer League (1968–1984), North American Soccer League as well as one in the Western Soccer Alliance and three in the Major Soccer League, Major Indoor Soccer League. Hunter grew up in the Los Angeles area, attending Damien High School in La Verne, California. He then played soccer at Santa Clara University from 1976 thru 1979. Michael Dewayne Hunter Jr. (born April 19, 1993) is a former American football cornerback. He played college football at Indiana prior to transferring to Oklahoma State. He was signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent after the 2016 NFL Draft. High school career Hunter attended West Monroe High School where he lettered four times in football, he also lettered in basketball and track & field. He also had a 4.0 Grade point average (GPA). He was a member of the All-northeast Louisiana and All-district teams as a junior and senior.
