Michael Hunter (boxer)
Michael Hunter (born 5 May 1978) is a British professional boxer who competed from 2000 to 2012. He challenged once for the vacant IBF super bantamweight title in 2006. At regional level, he held the British super bantamweight title from 2004 to 2005; the Commonwealth super bantamweight title in 2005; and the EBU European super bantamweight title from 2005 to 2006. Amateur career He won the 1997 Amateur Boxing Association British flyweight title and 1999 bantamweight title, when boxing out of the Hartlepool Boys Welfare ABC. Professional career He won his British title against Mark Payne in April 2004, before that landing Northern Area (W John Barnes) and WBF World Title (W Frankie De Milo) honours. Jason Booth (born 7 November 1977) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1996 to 2016. He held the IBO super-flyweight title from 2003 to 2004, and challenged once for the IBF super bantamweight title in 2010. Steve Molitor (born April 4, 1980) is a Canadian former professional boxer who competed from 2000 to 2012 and held the IBF super-bantamweight title twice between 2006 and 2011. Career history Born in Sarnia, Ontario, Molitor began boxing at the age of nine, following in the footsteps of his brother, former commonwealth champion Jeremy Molitor. He won five national titles at 112 pounds. He participated in the Olympic trials but lost a decision to Mike Messel. His final amateur record was 93 wins and eleven losses. Molitor became a professional boxer on May 18, 2000, with an eight-round decision over Julio Luna. In 2002 he scored his most notable win to date when he beat former Olympian Scotty Olson for the Canadian super bantamweight title. Super bantamweight, also known as junior featherweight, is a weight class in professional boxing, contested from and up to . There were attempts by boxing promoters in the 1920s to establish this weight class, but few sanctioning organizations or state athletic commissions would recognize it. Jack Wolf won recognition as champion when he beat Joe Lynch at Madison Square Garden on September 21, 1922, but afterwards the weight division fell into disuse. The division was revived in the 1970s and the first title fight in 54 years in the division took place in 1976 when the World Boxing Council recognized Rigoberto Riasco as its champion when he defeated Waruinge Nakayama in eight rounds. England Boxing, known until 2013 as the Amateur Boxing Association of England, is the governing body of amateur boxing clubs in England. There are separate organisations for Scotland and Wales with boxing in Northern Ireland being organised on an All-Ireland basis. The Association was founded in 1880. In 1881, it organised the first ABA Championships the following year. From 2008 the Championships were known as the ABAE National Championships and then from 2014 until 2018 they were known as the England Boxing National Elite Championships.
