Mike Hopkins (baseball)
Michael Joseph Hopkins (November 1, 1872 – February 5, 1952) was a Major League Baseball catcher, at least for one day, during the 1902 season. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Nicknamed "Skinner", Hopkins is one of only eight players in major league history to be Scottish natives. Hopkins played in one game for the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 24, 1902. Behind the plate, he handled four chances flawlessly for a fielding percentage of 1.000. He also had one passed ball. At the plate, he went 2-for-2 with a double for a 1.000 batting average and a slugging percentage of 1.500. The game was part of a doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds, played at the Palace of the Fans in Cincinnati. Some of his teammates on the pennant-winning 1902 Pirates were Hall of Famers Jack Chesbro, Fred Clarke, and Honus Wagner. Michael Griffith Hopkins (born August 6, 1969) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach for the Washington Huskies men's team of the Pac-12 Conference. He was a longtime assistant at Syracuse University before taking over for Washington in 2017. The 6-foot-5 Hopkins, from Laguna Hills, California, was a fan favorite during his playing days at Syracuse, known for his all-out hustle and general scrappy play. High school career Born in the Northern California city of San Mateo and raised in the Southern California city of Laguna Hills, Hopkins was a member of the 1987 California state championship team at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California that also featured future NBA player LeRon Ellis. Michael Wayne Hopkins (born March 6, 1960) is an American former college basketball player and coach. Hopkins played collegiately for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers between 1989 and 1993. He was an assistant coach for three college programs from 1998 to 1994. He was head coach of the Chanticleers from 1994 to 1998 and compiled a 30–76 overall record. Michael Alexander Hopkins (12 August 1959 – 30 December 2012) was a New Zealand sound editor. Hopkins and American Ethan Van der Ryn shared two Academy Awards for best sound editing on the films '' The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers'' and ''King Kong''.
