Michael Hodson
Michael David Hodson (born 2 August 1942) is a former English cricketer. Hodson was a right-handed batsman who fielded as a wicket-keeper. He was born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire. Hodson made his debut for Lincolnshire in the 1974 Minor Counties Championship against the Yorkshire Second XI. Hodson played Minor counties cricket for Lincolnshire from 1974 to 1978, which included 40 Minor Counties Championship matches. He made his only List A appearance for Lincolnshire against Derbyshire in the 1976 Gillette Cup. He scored 16 unbeaten runs in the match. In 1979, he played 2 List A matches for Minor Counties North in the Benson & Hedges Cup against Kent and Middlesex. Derbyshire County Cricket Club
Derbyshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Derbyshire. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The 1979 Benson & Hedges Cup was the eighth competition of cricket's Benson & Hedges Cup. The competition was won by Essex County Cricket Club. Controversy Going into the final round of matches in Group A, Somerset held a three-point lead over both Glamorgan and Worcestershire. Worcestershire were due to play Somerset at New Road while Glamorgan had an easy fixture against Minor Counties South at Watford. It was mathematically possible for both Glamorgan and Worcestershire to overhaul Somerset in the table, and qualify for the quarter-finals, if both teams won (leaving all three on nine points) and their bowling strike rates improved and Somerset's worsened. The 1976 Gillette Cup was the fourteenth Gillette Cup, an English limited overs county cricket tournament. It was held between 26 June and 4 September 1976. The tournament was won by Northamptonshire County Cricket Club who defeated Lancashire County Cricket Club by 4 wickets in the final at Lord's.
