Michael Hill (bishop)
Michael Arthur Hill (born 17 April 1949) is an English Anglican bishop. He was the Bishop of Bristol from 2003 until he retired effective 30 September 2017. Early life and education Hill was born on 17 April 1949, to Arthur and Hilda Hill. He was educated at Wilmslow County Grammar School, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. Ordained ministry He was ordained a deacon at Petertide 1977 (26 June) and a priest the next Petertide (2 July 1978), both times by Donald Coggan, Archbishop of Canterbury, at Canterbury Cathedral. From 1977 to 1980 he was curate of St Mary Magdalene's, Addiscombe; and, from 1980 to 1983, of St Paul's Slough. From 1983 to 1990 he was priest in charge of St Leonard's Chesham Bois. In 1990 he became Rural Dean of Amersham and the Archdeacon of Berkshire in 1992. Michael Hill (7 August 1672 – 1699) was a politician in England and Ireland. Biography He was the son of William Hill, of Hillsborough by his wife Eleanor, daughter of Archbishop Michael Boyle.His father later married Mary, daughter of Marcus Trevor, 1st Viscount Dungannon. Michael Hill was Member of Parliament for Saltash in the English House of Commons from 1692 to 1695, and for Hillsborough in the Irish House of Commons from 1695 to 1699. He also served as Governor and Custos Rotulorum of County Down and appointed to the Privy Council of Ireland in 1694. Family In 1690, he married Anne, daughter of Sir John Trevor; they had two sons and one daughter. His eldest son and heir Trevor was made Viscount Hillsborough. Sir Richard Michael Hill (born 23 December 1938) is a New Zealand jeweller, entrepreneur and philanthropist who founded global jewellery retailer Michael Hill Jeweller in 1979. He retired as the company's chairman in November 2015. He currently resides in Arrowtown and was Ernst & Young's 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year in New Zealand. Early life and career Born in Whangarei on 23 December 1938, Hill was educated at Whangarei Boys' High School from 1949 to 1954. Hill recalls being bullied, stating that he "hated" his time at school. Michael Hill (born 1951) is an American political activist from Alabama. He is a co-founder and the president of the "Southern secession" movement the League of the South, an organization whose stated goal is to create an independent country made up of the former states of the American South. Early life and education Hill was born in 1951 in Killen, Alabama. He studied history at the University of Alabama and obtained his PhD in 1985. Career Hill taught British history at University of Alabama and at Stillman College, a historically black college in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for 18 years until 1998. Building on the views of his mentors at the University of Alabama, he published two books on the Celts, romanticizing the "Celtic" soldier. Michael Hill's Blues Mob is an American blues trio. The members have variously included Michael Hill, his bass guitar playing brother, Kevin, and singing sisters, Wynette and Kathy. Originally formed in the early 1990s by Michael Hill (born 1952, The Bronx, New York, United States), the Blues Mob is a trio - however they sometimes add keyboards.
