Michael Gruber (born 1965 in Mallersdorf, Germany) is a German painter Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface (called the "matrix" or "support"). Biography After graduating from an apprenticeship as sculptor he majored in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. He was taught there by Hans Ladner, Antony Gormley, Asta Gröting and Timm Ulrichs. Since 1995 he has worked in Munich with his partner Corbinian Böhm under the name Empfangshalle. In 1999 he got his "Meisterschüler" diplom (comparable with a Master of Fine Arts degree). Mallersdorf
Mallersdorf-Pfaffenberg ( bar, label=Central Bavarian, Mollaschdorf-Pfoffaberg) is a municipality in the district of Straubing-Bogen in Bavaria, Germany and has around 7000 inhabitants. Mallersdorf-Pfaffenberg is located in the heart of Bavaria in the south of Germany. The medieval cities Regensburg and Landshut are within a 30 km radius and even the major cities Munich (München) and Nürnberg are just around 100 km away. The town is well known for the Mallersdorf Abbey, which exists since the 12th century. The Franciscan order of the "Mallersdorfer Schwestern" is busy around the world. The eagle of St. John, the patron saint of the abbey, was used on seals of the abbey since 1495. Empfangshalle (literally ''lobby'') is the name of a German performing art duo. It was founded by Corbinian Böhm and Michael Gruber in Munich ( Germany) in 1995. Medium of their works is the society. They perform their art projects in the open, especially in popular places. Their art projects - more often than not - are a mystery to the viewers and often cause confusion. A typical example was the staged "Gei hin hol" '' ei: hi:n ho:l' mega-poster action with incomprehensible foreign language messages in Munich (2005).
