Michael Devin Griffin (born January 4, 1985) is a former American football safety who played 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Texas. He was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. High school career A native of Austin, Texas, Griffin attended Bowie High School, where he was a two-year starter at running back and also started at defensive back as a senior. He earned honorable mention All-State Class 5A honors on offense and was also named Academic All-District and All-Central Texas as a two-way performer that year. He was also the District 25-5A Offensive MVP, as he rushed for 1,181 yards and 11 touchdowns on 132 carries (8.9 average) and caught six passes for 112 yards, including a score in 2002. Michael Joseph Griffin (March 20, 1865 – April 10, 1908) was an American Major League Baseball center fielder who was born in Utica, New York. He played in 1,511 games over 12 seasons for teams in the American Association, Players' League, and National League. He had 1,755 hits, resulting in a .296 batting average, and was a prolific base stealer who swiped 473 bases during his career. In his last year in the majors, he was also a player-manager for the Brooklyn Bridegrooms. Career While playing for the local Utica professional team, Griffin was scouted and signed by Billy Barnie of the Baltimore Orioles. Michael Leroy Griffin (born June 26, 1957) is a retired Major League Baseball pitcher. He played during six seasons at the major league level for the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, Baltimore Orioles, and Cincinnati Reds. He was drafted by the Texas Rangers (baseball), Texas Rangers in the 3rd round of the 1976 amateur draft. Mike Griffin (born September 29, 1943) is a former American college basketball coach, known for his 30-year tenure at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, as well as being the head coach at Division I Colgate from 1976 to 1982. Playing career Griffin lettered at Columbia from 1963 to 1965 under Jack Rohan. In his senior season, he averaged 8.8 points per game and 12 rebounds per game, finishing second in the Ivy League in rebounding behind Bill Bradley. Coaching career After two years at Temple Law School, Griffin returned to his alma mater to begin his coaching career as an assistant for the Lions from 1967 to 1970. Griffin was on staff for Columbia's 1968 Ivy League Championship squad in which the team earned a berth in the 1968 NCAA tournament, the last time the Lions have been to the NCAAs. Murder Of David Gunn
On March 10, 1993, Dr. David Gunn was fatally shot by anti-abortion extremist Michael Frederick Griffin in Pensacola, Florida. It was the first documented killing of an obstetrics and gynaecology doctor where the stated intention of the perpetrator was to prevent a doctor from performing abortions in an act of anti-abortion violence in the United States. A jury deliberated three hours before finding Griffin guilty on March 4, 1994. He was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, which he is serving at Okaloosa Correctional Institution in Crestview, Florida. In November 2017, the Florida Commission on Offender Review set Griffin's tentative release date for March 4, 2043. Michael Griffin (Irish Priest)
Michael Griffin (18 September 1892 – 14 November 1920) was an Irish Catholic priest who was murdered during the Irish War of Independence. Griffin was born in the townland of Gurteen, County Galway, to Thomas George Griffin, a farmer, and Mary Coyne (also Kyne). In the 1901 and 1911 censuses, the family was recorded as living in the neighbouring townland of Gortnacross. Griffin's father had been serving as the chairman of Galway County Council when he died in 1914; he had also been associated with the Irish National Land League, along with the political movement of its founder, Charles Stewart Parnell, and was imprisoned for his activities in the 1880s.
