Michael Joseph Farrell Jr. (born February 6, 1939) is an American actor, best known for his role as List of M*A*S*H characters#B.J. Hunnicutt, Captain B.J. Hunnicutt on the television series ''M*A*S*H (TV series), M*A*S*H'' (1975–83). Farrell was a producer of ''Patch Adams (film), Patch Adams'' (1998) starring Robin Williams, and starred in the television series ''Providence (American TV series), Providence'' (1999–2002). He is also an activist and public speaker for various political causes. Early life Farrell, one of four children, was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Agnes Sarah Cosgrove and Michael Joseph Farrell. Michael James Farrell (9 May 1926 – 27 October 1975), was a Cambridge economist professionally known as M. J. Farrell. Academically he is remembered largely for the celebrated non-parametric measure of productive efficiency that he published in 1957. Biography Mike Farrell was born in Swindon, England, in 1926. He was the son of Richard J. Farrell, OBE, an engineer for the Crown Agents for Overseas Governments and Administrations, and Margaret E. Deane. In 1934, his family moved to Sheffield, England, and in 1936 he entered King Edward VII School, Sheffield. In 1944 he won a scholarship to New College, Oxford. He travelled to the US in 1951. While in the USA he met Margaret Bacon, later a psychologist and psychotherapist, daughter of Ernst Bacon, whom he married in 1952. He returned to Cambridge with Margaret in 1953. They had five sons. Michael Farrell (born 1944) is an Irish civil rights activist, writer and former leader of People's Democracy, from its inception through to the 1969 Burntollet Bridge incident and into the 1970s. Farrell was educated at Queen's University, Belfast and the University of Strathclyde. He was a Labour Trotskyist, becoming involved in the Northern Ireland civil rights movement in Northern Ireland in the late 1960s, and was a founding member of the university-based People’s Democracy, which was established on 9 October 1968, after Royal Ulster Constabulary police had broken up a civil rights march in Derry on 5 October. He stood as their candidate for Bannside in the Northern Ireland general election of 1969 where he finished third behind Terence O'Neill (the Northern Ireland Prime Minister) and Ian Paisley. Michael John Farrell (born 1902, date of death unknown) was an Irish footballer. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1924 Summer Olympics. 1924 Olympics Farrell was one of five St James's Gate players selected for the Irish Free State team at the Paris Olympics. Others included Paddy Duncan, Tom Murphy, Charlie Dowdall, and Ernie MacKay. Farrell started Ireland's inaugural game against Bulgaria on 28 May 1924 at the Stade Olympique where his teammate Duncan would score the only goal to secure a historic debut win for the Irish Free State. Farrell himself hit the woodwork during the tie. Farrell started Ireland's next match against the Netherlands in the tournament Quarter-Finals at the Stade de Paris on 2 June 1924. Michael Kevin Farrell is an American keyboardist, musical director, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known for his work both recording and touring with Alanis Morissette, Morrissey and Macy Gray. Early life Farrell was born and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended John Carroll University where he won a Fulbright Fellowship to study at the University of Waikato New Zealand in 1991. He later received a master's degree from Syracuse University in 1993. After college, he moved to Los Angeles in 1993 to pursue music.
