Michael Dasmariñas
Michael Alber Dasmariñas is a Filipino professional boxer who held the IBO bantamweight title in 2018. He also challenged for the IBO super-flyweight title in 2014 and the unified WBA (Super), IBF, and '' The Ring'' bantamweight titles in 2021. Professional career Dasmariñas made his professional debut on 15 January 2012, scoring a four-round unanimous decision (UD) victory against Wilmar Pragata in Lipas, Philippines. After compiling a record of 18–1 (11 KOs), he faced reigning champion Lwandile Sityatha for the IBO super-flyweight title on 13 December 2014 at the Orient Theater in East London, South Africa. Super flyweight, also referred to as junior bantamweight, is a weight class in professional boxing, contested from and up to . A split decision (SD) is a winning criterion in boxing, most commonly in full-contact combat sports, in which two of the three judges score one particular competitor as the winner, while the third judge scores for the other competitor. A split decision is different from a majority decision. A majority decision occurs when two judges pick the same competitor as the winner, and the third judge scores the contest a draw (tie). An interim championship is an alternate title that is awarded by the sanctioning bodies of professional boxing, and in other combat sports such as kickboxing, professional wrestling, and mixed martial arts. Occasionally, the champion of a particular weight division is temporarily unable to defend his championship because of medical, legal, or other reasons beyond the competitor's control.
