Michael Crawford
Michael Patrick Smith, (born 19 January 1942), known professionally as Michael Crawford, is an English tenor, actor and comedian. Crawford is best known for playing both the hapless Frank Spencer in the sitcom ''Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em'' and the title role in the musical ''The Phantom of the Opera''. His acclaimed performance in the latter earned him both the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical and Tony Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. He has received international critical acclaim and won numerous awards during his acting career, which has included many film and television performances as well as stage work on both London's West End and on Broadway. Michael Hewson Crawford, (born 7 December 1939) is a British ancient historian and numismatist. Having taught at Christ's College, Cambridge and the University of Cambridge, he was Professor of Ancient History at University College London from 1986 until he retired in 2005. Early life Crawford was born in Twickenham on 7 December 1939. He was educated at St Paul's School, Oriel College, Oxford (BA, MA), and the British School at Rome. Academic career In 1964, Crawford was elected a research fellow of Christ's College, Cambridge. From 1969 until 1986 he was Fellow of Christ's College, Cambridge, and University Lecturer in Ancient History in the University of Cambridge. He was Professor of Ancient History at University College London from 1986 until 2005, becoming emeritus professor on his retirement. Michael Grove Crawford (30 July 1920 – 2 December 2012) was an English first-class cricketer, who played one match for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 1951. A right-handed batsman, he scored 13 and 9 and took a catch, against Worcestershire at North Marine Road Ground, Scarborough, a match won by the visitors by eight runs. Captain Michael Lindsay Coulton "Tubby" Crawford Distinguished Service Cross (United Kingdom), DSC & Medal bar, Bar (27 June 1917 – 28 June 2017) was an officer in the Royal Navy and submariner. Early life and family Michael Lindsay Coulton Crawford was born near Cuckfield, Sussex, England, to Walter Coulton Crawford and his wife. Tubby and his brother Peter spent their early years in Kenya where their father, who had served in the Royal Engineers in the First World War, had been granted some farmland and also served as an engineer with the Kenya and Uganda Railway. In 1924 Crawford, aged 6, and his brother were sent to England where they attended Merton Court preparatory school in Sidcup. Their father died on 10 November 1926 while they were in England. Mike Crawford (born October 29, 1974) is a former American football player. He played professionally as a linebacker with of the Miami Dolphins on the National Football League (NFL) and the Las Vegas Outlaws of the XFL. High school Crawford attended George Whittell High School in Zephyr Cove, Nevada. He was named all-conference and all-state honors. His freshman year, he did not make the football team due to his size. He played soccer and was known for his aggressiveness and was asked by the football coaches to join the team next season. His senior year his team won the Nevada state championship. Besides playing football, Crawford played varsity basketball and was a member of the golf team for two years. College His freshman year (1993), Crawford was a walk-on for the Nevada Wolf Pack. In 1994, his sophomore year, Crawford saw playing time in 10 games. Kamloops—Thompson—Cariboo (formerly known as Kamloops—Thompson) is a federal electoral district in the province of British Columbia, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2004. While the riding covers a large area, about three quarters of the population in the district live in the city of Kamloops. History This district was created as Kamloops—Thompson in 2003 from Kamloops, Thompson and Highland Valleys riding and small parts of Cariboo—Chilcotin and Prince George—Bulkley Valley ridings.
