Michael Cohen (cricketer)
Michael Alex Robert Cohen (born 4 August 1998) is a South African-born French cricketer who plays for Derbyshire. Early life Michael was born on 4 August 1998 in Cape Town, South Africa. He is of French descent and holds a French passport. Career He made his first-class debut for Western Province in the 2016–17 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup on 2 March 2017. He made his Twenty20 debut for Western Province in the 2017 Africa T20 Cup on 25 August 2017. He made his List A debut for Western Province in the 2017–18 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge on 21 January 2018. He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2017–18 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup for Western Province, with 26 dismissals in six matches. In September 2018, he was named in Western Province's squad for the 2018 Africa T20 Cup. In October 2019, he was signed by Derbyshire County Cricket Club in England on a two-year deal. 2016–17 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup
The 2016–17 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup was a first-class cricket competition that took place in South Africa from 6 October 2016 to 9 April 2017. The competition was played between the thirteen South African provincial teams and Namibia national cricket team, Namibia. Unlike its counterpart, the 2016–17 Sunfoil Series, Sunfoil Series, the matches were three days in length instead of four. The tournament was played in parallel with the 2016–17 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge, a List A cricket, List A competition which featured the same teams. Northerns cricket team, Northerns finished top of Pool A and Free State cricket team, Free State finished top of Pool B, with both teams progressing to the final of the competition. The 2018 Africa T20 Cup was the fourth and final edition of the Africa T20 Cup, a Twenty20 cricket tournament. It was held in South Africa in September 2018, as a curtain-raiser to the 2018–19 South African domestic season. Provincial side KwaZulu-Natal Inland were the defending champions. Organised by Cricket South Africa, the tournament was played between twenty teams. Sixteen of these teams had participated in previous years – thirteen South African provincial teams, national representative sides of Kenya, Namibia and Zimbabwe – and they were joined by South African teams Limpopo and Mpumalanga along with Nigeria and Uganda.
