Brintons
Brintons is a British manufacturer of carpets, founded in 1783 by William Brinton, at Hill Pool in Chaddesley, Kidderminster, to manufacture spun yarns. Its first factory in Kidderminster was established in 1820 and as of 2008 the company still had a major manufacturing presence on the Stourport edge of the town. In 1970 Brintons opened their first factory in Telford, Shropshire, to make spun yarns. It owns and operates other factories all over the world including Poland, Portugal and India manufacturing bespoke and stock woven Axminster and Wilton wool-rich carpets and rugs. In 1993, Brintons launched an advertising campaign featuring costumes made from the company's carpets designed by Vivienne Westwood. New Year Honours List
The New Year Honours is a part of the British honours system, with New Year's Day, 1 January, being marked by naming new members of orders of chivalry and recipients of other official honours. A number of other Commonwealth realms also mark this day in this way. The awards are presented by or in the name of the reigning monarch, currently King Charles III or his vice-regal representative. High Sheriff Of Hereford And Worcester
The office of High Sheriff of Hereford and Worcester came into existence with the county of Hereford and Worcester on 1 April 1974 under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972. The office subsumed that of the much older offices of Sheriff of Herefordshire and Sheriff of Worcestershire. The office was abolished in 1998 and the functions of the High Sheriff of Hereford and Worcester returned to the offices of the Sheriff of Herefordshire and Sheriff of Worcestershire, both of which were renamed High Sheriff. During its existence the office of High Sheriff of Hereford and Worcester remained the sovereign's representative in the county for all matters relating to the judiciary and the maintenance of law and order. Thomas Dunne (Lord Lieutenant)
Sir Thomas Raymond Dunne, (born 24 October 1933) was the Lord Lieutenant of Hereford and Worcester from 1977, then (after the historic counties were restored) from 1998 the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire until 2001 and the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire until 2008. Biography Sir Thomas was born in 1933, the son of Philip Russell Rendel Dunne, a military officer and politician. He was educated at Eton College and at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Hereford and Worcester in 1977, three years after the administrative counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire were merged to form Hereford and Worcester. In 1995, he was knighted as a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. In 1998, Hereford and Worcester reverted to its original counties, and Sir Thomas became Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire and Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire. Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Roy Holcroft (born March 1948) is an English retired soldier and banker who is the present Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire, the Elizabeth II, British monarch's personal representative in the county. Career He was educated at Downside School, the University of Nottingham (BA, 1972), and at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He served 19 years in the Grenadier Guards, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel, before pursuing a career in the City of London with the UK merchant banking group Robert Fleming & Co. in 1988. Holcroft remained with the bank as CEO of its Lloyds re-insurance broking business and a director of the investment management business until the bank was acquired in 2000 by Chase Manhattan Bank.
