Michael Brdar
Michael Joseph Brdar (born April 7, 1994) is an American professional baseball hitting coach for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has also coached in MLB for the San Diego Padres. Career Brdar attended De La Salle High School in Concord, California, and played for the school's baseball team. He enrolled at Diablo Valley College, where he began his college baseball career. He transferred to the University of Michigan to play for the Michigan Wolverines. The St. Louis Cardinals selected him in the 36th round of the 2017 MLB draft. Following Brdar's playing career, he spent two seasons as the hitting coordinator for the San Francisco Giants organization. After the 2021 season, the San Diego Padres hired Brdar as their hitting coach. In baseball, a number of coaches assist in the smooth functioning of a team. They are assistants to the manager, who determines the starting lineup and batting order, decides how to substitute players during the game, and makes strategy decisions. Beyond the manager, more than a half dozen coaches may assist the manager in running the team. Essentially, baseball coaches are analogous to assistant coaches in other sports, as the baseball manager is to the head coach. Michigan Wolverines Baseball
The Michigan Wolverines baseball team represents the University of Michigan in NCAA Division I college baseball. Along with most other Michigan athletic teams, the baseball team participates in the Big Ten Conference. They play their home games at Ray Fisher Stadium. The Wolverines have made the College World Series eight times, winning two national championships in 1953 and 1962. Michigan is the third winningest program in NCAA Division I baseball history, trailing only Fordham and Texas. 2017 MLB Draft
The 2017 Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft began on June 12, 2017. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to MLB teams. The first 36 picks, including the first round and compensatory picks, were broadcast on MLB Network on June 12, while the remainder of the draft was live streamed on MLB.com on June 13 and 14.
