Michael Bohmeyer
Michael Bohmeyer (born 1 October 1984, in Rüdersdorf) is a German entrepreneur, author and activist for universal basic income in the country. In 2014, he founded the association Mein Grundeinkommen. Life and career Together with others, Bohmeyer founded various companies: the online sign trade ''Bohmeyer & Schuster GmbH'', the social network ''want2do AG'' and the technology startup ''admineo UG''. As a passive co-owner of Bohmeyer & Schuster since 2013, Bohmeyer receives an annual profit distribution. He perceived this unpowered income as „eine Art Bedingungsloses Grundeinkommen“ ("a kind of unconditional basic income"). Inspired by this experience, he founded the non-governmental organization Mein Grundeinkommen in 2014. Rüdersdorf is a municipality in the district Märkisch-Oderland, in Brandenburg, Germany, near Berlin. It is served by the Schöneiche bei Berlin tramway which runs from Rüdersdorf through Schöneiche to Berlin-Friedrichshagen station on the Berlin S-Bahn network. Universal Basic Income In Germany
Universal basic income in Germany (''German: Grundeinkommen'') has been discussed since the 1970s, with emphasis placed on its unconditional dimension by 2003. The universal basic income concept has many definitions, such as Philippe Van Parijs', which described it as the income paid by the government, at a uniform level and regular intervals to each adult citizen and permanent residents of the country. The Basic Income Earth Network's criteria constitute one of the most popular proposals and they include: 1) income must be paid to individuals instead of households; 2) income should be paid irrespective of income from other sources; and, 3) it must be paid without requiring performance of any work. Mein Grundeinkommen (''My Basic Income'') is a German non-profit registered association that is committed to spreading the idea of unconditional basic income in Germany and researching it. The main activities include drawing lots for a one-year basic income, campaigns, educational events and collaborations on basic income, as well as own research activities. The association is fully financed through donations and crowdfunding. History Mein Grundeinkommen was founded by Michael Bohmeyer in 2014. In the summer of 2014, a total of four one-year basic incomes of 12,000 euros each were collected for the first time in a crowdfunding campaign. Universal basic income (UBI) is a social welfare proposal in which all citizens of a given population regularly receive an unconditional transfer payment, that is, without a means test or need to work. It would be received independently of any other income. If the level is sufficient to meet a person's basic needs (i.e., at or above the poverty line), it is sometimes called a full basic income; if it is less than that amount, it may be called a partial basic income.
