Michael Beer (cricketer)
Michael Anthony Beer (born 9 June 1984) is an Australian cricketer who played for the Victorian cricket team. He played as a slow left-arm orthodox spin bowler. He made his Test cricket debut in the final match of the 2010–11 Ashes series. After several seasons playing for the Western Australian cricket team, in the 2016–17 season Beer returned to his home state of Victoria to continue his professional cricket career. Early life Beer grew up in the Melbourne suburb of Malvern and played his junior cricket for Malvern Cricket Club in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association. His family had strong ties with the club and his father was part of the club's "Team of the Century". He attended De La Salle College, which resides opposite the Malvern Cricket Ground and graduated in 2002. Michael Beer (poet)
Michael Beer (19 August 1800, Berlin – 22 March 1833, Munich) was a German Jewish poet, author and playwright. Early life Beer was born to a wealthy Jewish family, the son of salonnière Amalie Beer. His elder brother was the composer Giacomo Meyerbeer; another brother was the astronomer Wilhelm Beer. In the period 1817–1823 he frequently travelled with family members in Italy, where his brother Meyerbeer was studying. In 1819 Beer was a founder member of the movement '' Verein für Cultur und Wissenschaft der Juden (Association for Culture and Science of the Jews)'', which attempted to provide an intellectual framework for considering the Jews as a people in their own right, and to validate their secular cultural traditions as being on an equal footing with those of the German people.
