Micah Maʻa
Micah Maʻa (born April 16, 1997) is an American volleyball player. He is part of the US national team. At the professional club level, he plays for Halkbank Ankara. Personal life Maa was born in Kāneohe, Hawaii to Pono and Lisa Strand-Maa. Career Maa was a standout 3 sport athlete at Punahou winning a state basketball title in 2012, a state football title in 2013, four state volleyball titles and earning the Hawaii state volleyball player of the year his senior season in 2015 at Punahou. At UCLA he earned AVCA first-team All-America, first team All-MPSF and Off the Block's Server of the Year in his freshman season in 2016, all 2018 NCAA volleyball tournament honors when the Bruins finished runner-up in the championship game against the 49ers of Long Beach State, and AVCA first-team All-America, first-team All-MPSF, setting the UCLA Bruins single-season record of 67 aces his senior season in 2019. Kaneohe, Hawaii
Kāneohe () is a census-designated place (CDP) included in the City and County of Honolulu and located in Hawaii state District of Koolaupoko on the island of Oahu. In the Hawaiian language, ''kāne ohe'' means "bamboo man". According to an ancient Hawaiian story a local woman compared her husband's cruelty to the sharp edge of cutting bamboo; thus the place was named Kāneohe or "bamboo man". The population was 37,430 at the 2020 census. Kāneohe is the largest of several communities along Kāneohe Bay and one of the two largest residential communities on the windward side of Oahu (the other is Kailua). The commercial center of the town is spread mostly along Kamehameha Highway. From ancient times, Kāneohe was important as an agricultural area, owing to an abundance of rainfall. American Volleyball Coaches Association
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is an organization of over 6,000 members, incorporated as a private non-profit educational corporation in 1981, as the Collegiate Volleyball Coaches Association. It is currently headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. The original members of the AVCA were intercollegiate coaches who banded together to form this particular coaching body. In 1986, during the San Francisco convention, the membership recognized the growing and developing high school and club communities. The name of the association was then changed to reflect these growing constituencies. The original Collegiate Volleyball Coaches Association was renamed the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the intent of responding to and serving all volleyball coaches. Long Beach State athletics, or simply Beach athletics (previously known as the 49ers), are the athletic teams that represent California State University, Long Beach. Teams compete in 19 sports at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level. NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament
The NCAA men's volleyball tournament, officially titled the NCAA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship, is an annual competition that determines the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship in American college men's volleyball. It had been the only NCAA championship in the sport from 1970 until 2012, when the NCAA launched a Division III championship. Unlike most NCAA sports, men's volleyball uses a modified version of the National Collegiate championship format, which means Division I and Division II teams compete against each other in the same tournament.
