Micah Baskerville
Micah Baskerville (born October 19, 1999) is an American professional football linebacker for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at LSU. Early life and high school Baskerville's hometown is Shreveport, Louisiana, and he attended Evangel Christian Academy. In Baskerville's high school career, he notched 39 tackles with nine being for a loss, and a fumble recovery. Baskerville committed to play college football at Louisiana State University. College career In Baskerville's first season, 2018, he totaled 18 tackles, with 0.5 tackles going for a loss. In week four of the 2019 season, Baskerville blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown; he also returned an onside kick for 46 yards as he helped LSU beat Vanderbilt. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). 2022 Tennessee Volunteers Football Team
The 2022 Tennessee Volunteers football team represented the University of Tennessee in the 2022 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Volunteers played their home games at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee, and competed in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They were led by second-year head coach Josh Heupel. On October 15, 2022, Tennessee beat the No. 3-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, winning the rivalry game for the first time since 2006. Fans rushed the field at Neyland Stadium and tore down the goalposts, carrying them around campus and eventually throwing them into the Tennessee River. The university was fined $100,000 by the Southeastern Conference as a result of rushing the field. The university received $152,000 in donations from the fans to replace the goalposts. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster. This is particularly important for professional gridiron football teams, which do not have formal minor league farm team affiliates to train players.
