Mohammad Moniruzzaman Miah ( – June 13, 2016) was a Bangladeshi academic. He served as the 20th vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka from March 1990 until October 1992. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2004 by the Government of Bangladesh for his contribution to education. Education and career Miah completed his master's from the University of Rajshahi. Abu Ahmad Abdul Hafiz ( bn, আবু আহমদ আব্দুল হাফিজ; 1900–1985), also known by his daak naam Wakil Mia ( bn, উকিল মিঞা, Ukil Miã), was a Bengali lawyer, teacher and politician who was active in the Pakistan Movement and the reincorporation of the Sylhet district into East Bengal. Early life and education Abu Ahmad Abdul Hafiz was born on 2 June 1900, to a Bengali Muslim family in Sonarpara, Sylhet. His father was Khan Bahadur Abdur Rahim, the son of Munshi Abdul Qadir of Rainagar Mahalla. At one point of time his father was the Manager of Prithimpassa Nawab Estate. His paternal grandmother, Moti Bibi, was the daughter of Muhammad Uzayr, a powerful leader of Rainagar. Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah ( – 1 June 1969) was a Bengali journalist and politician. He served as the founding editor of ''The Daily Ittefaq''. He wrote the editorial Rajnoitik Moncho (''The Political Stage''). Most of his journalists were considered leftist as Miah followed the pattern of Awami League. He designed one of the two £5 commemorative coins for the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Early life Miah's parents immigrated from Sylhet District, Bangladesh. Muhammad Nurul Haque Miah ( bn, মোহম্মদ নুরুল হক মিঞা; 1 July 1944 — 20 February 2021) was a professor at Dhaka College and the head of its Department of Chemistry.
