Mi Encuentro
''Mi Encuentro'' is the twenty-second (22nd) studio album by Puerto Rican singer Yolandita Monge released in 1997 and her last production for WEA-Latina. This album marked another radical change of sound for the singer, which included bomba and plena arrangements. The album contains two songs from Puerto Rican singer/songwriter Glenn Monroig, "Yo Solamente", and "Vete Ya", as well as others from known composers. Also, the singer recorded the previous hits "Cierra Los Ojos Y Juntos Recordemos" (From Floreciendo!) and "Ahora, Ahora" (From Laberinto de Amor) with these new arrangements. In the liner notes Monge express that it was her longtime desire to record songs with the sounds of her native land. This album earned Gold record status in Puerto Rico. Sergio George
Sergio George (born May 23, 1961) is an American pianist, arranger, and record producer, known for working with many famous performers of salsa music, although he has worked in other genres of the music industry as well. He has worked with some of Latin music's most popular artists starting with Marc Anthony, DLG, Jennifer Lopez, Tito Nieves, Víctor Manuelle, Frankie Negrón, Johnny Rivera, Ray Sepúlveda, Tito Puente, Thalia, Orquesta de la Luz, Ivy Queen, Celia Cruz, La India, Jerry Rivera, Bacilos, Leslie Grace, Toby Love, Cheo Feliciano, Prince Royce, Liz Elias, Indy Flow, among others. The Tropical Airplay chart (formerly known as Tropical/Salsa and Tropical Songs) is a record chart published by ''Billboard'' magazine introduced in 1994. The first number-one song on the chart was " Quien Eres Tu" by Luis Enrique. Originally, rankings on the chart were determined by the amount of airplay a song received on radio stations that primarily played tropical music, namely music originating from the Spanish-speaking areas of the Caribbean such as salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, vallenato, and tropical fusions. The chart focuses on Latin pop music, namely Spanish-language pop music. Dark Latin Groove (DLG) is a salsa band that mixes salsa, reggae and hip-hop. The group was brought together in New York by producer Sergio George (who also signed them to his record company Sir George Records) and included Huey Dunbar, Fragancia, and James "Da Barba" de Jesus. Beginnings Looking for vocalists, Sergio George discovered within the salsa club scenes both Huey Dunbar and James "Da Barba" de Jesus. De Jesus had previously been a backup singer for both Tito Nieves and Sistah Souljah. Their first appearance took place in April 1996 when they performed alongside Sergio George, who took up keyboard.
