is the fourth single by Japanese singer/songwriter Chisato Moritaka. Released by Warner Pioneer on April 25, 1988. The lyrics were written by Chisato Moritaka, the music was composed and arranged by Hideo Saitō. The single was Moritaka's first foray in songwriting in her career. The song was used in a series of Pioneer answering machine telephone commercials featuring Moritaka. Background "Mi-ha" is a slang term for a person obsessed with following vulgar fads and trends and is not well-educated. It usually refers to specific young women, but can also be applied to men. The term was believed to have been originated from actor Chōjirō Hayashi in his 1927 film ''Chigo no Kenpō''. Mi-ha is written in either katakana as "ミーハー" or in hiragana as "みいはあ". In contrast to the pop rock sound of Moritaka's debut single " New Season", the song uses a dance-pop arrangement. "Overnight Heat" was also released as the B-side of the mini CD reissue of "New Season" on March 25, 1988. The video album of "Overheat Night" was released in CDV format on November 28, 1988. CD Video (also known as CDV, CD-V, or CD+V) is a format of optical media disc that was introduced in 1987 that combines the technologies of standard compact disc and LaserDisc. The güiro () is a Puerto Rican percussion instrument consisting of an open-ended, hollow gourd with parallel notches cut in one side. It is played by rubbing a stick or tines (see photo) along the notches to produce a ratchet sound. The güiro is commonly used in Puerto Rican, Cuban and other forms of Latin American music, and plays a key role in the typical rhythm section of important genres like son, trova and salsa. Playing the güiro usually requires both long and short sounds, made by scraping up and down in long or short strokes. The güiro, like the maracas, is often played by a singer.
