A mezzo-soprano or mezzo (; ; meaning "half soprano") is a type of classical female singing voice whose vocal range lies between the soprano and the contralto voice types. The mezzo-soprano's vocal range usually extends from the A below middle C to the A two octaves above (i.e. A3–A5 in scientific pitch notation, where middle C = C4; 220–880 Hz). In the lower and upper extremes, some mezzo-sopranos may extend down to the F below middle C (F3, 175 Hz) and as high as "high C" (C6, 1047 Hz). In music, the dynamics of a piece is the variation in loudness between notes or phrases. Dynamics are indicated by specific musical notation, often in some detail. Portato (; Italian past participle of ''portare'', "to carry"), also mezzo-staccato, French notes portées, in music denotes a smooth, pulsing articulation and is often notated by adding dots under slur markings. Portato is also known as articulated legato. Description Portato is a bowing technique for stringed instruments, in which successive notes are gently re-articulated while being joined under a single continuing bow stroke. It achieves a kind of pulsation or undulation, rather than separating the notes. It has been notated in various ways. One early 19th-century writer, Pierre Baillot (''L’art du violon'', Paris, 1834), gives two alternatives: a wavy line, and dots under a slur. Pascal Mesenburg, pen name Mezzo, is a French cartoonist born in Drancy, France in 1960. Biography Very early, he is appealed by the 1960-1970 rock sleeves and the American underground scene (Robert Crumb, Rick Griffin, Robert Williams, etc.) that bring an "electric" counterpoint to his Franco-Belgian (Hergé, Ever Meulen) and older American influences (George Herriman, Chester Gould, Will Eisner). ''Mezzo DSA'' is a 13-episode anime series created by Yasuomi Umetsu and the first not to be licensed by Anime Works, but instead licensed by ADV Films. It is a follow up to the 2001 OVA ''Mezzo Forte''. Synopsis Mikura, Kurokawa, and Harada are the three members of the Danger Service Agency (DSA). Mikura is the brawn of the group, Harada is the brains, and Kurokawa is just a bitter ex-cop who likes to think he's in charge. They'll take on any job as long as it involves much danger and, of course, money. Their biggest case, however, could prove to be finding out why someone wants Kurokawa assassinated. Mezzo Forte
is a 2000 original video animation (OVA) directed by Yasuomi Umetsu, but in the United States these OVAs are edited into an anime movie and released it on DVD on the same year. The OVA, which concerns a young woman, Mikura Suzuki, and her mercenary business, the Danger Service Agency (D.S.A.), is the spiritual sequel to Umetsu's ''Kite'', as both feature the continuing elements of a highly trained female protagonist, dark comedic tone, extremely violent and slickly directed over-the-top action sequences, as well as the graphic sex scenes, which can be found only in the uncut version. ''Mezzo Forte'' takes place sometime after the events of ''Kite''. Like ''Kite'', the OVA was released both in the United States and Japan in two different versions: one with graphic sex scenes taken out, and the other with them left intact. Mezzo Mix (official notation: mezzo mix) is a product of The Coca-Cola Company, first introduced in Germany in 1973. It is a mixture of orange soda and cola, a beverage popular in German-speaking countries, commonly known there as spezi, the generic trademark of the first brand of that type of soda.
