Meyronne, Saskatchewan
Meyronne is a special service area in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. History Known history of the Wood Mountain area goes back to the trek by the NWMP in 1874 and the founding of the Wood Mountain Post that same year. Land in the area was opened for homesteading in 1908. When the railway went through in 1913, the settlement moved to its present site. It was reorganised from a village into a special service area on September 5, 2006. 2021 Canadian Census
The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016. Bateman, Saskatchewan
Bateman is a locality in the southwest region of Saskatchewan, Canada, north of the Red Coat Trail. It was named after Jim Bateman, the first settler to come to the area with his family in 1908. Bateman was once a prosperous community, which had a peak population of more than 300 citizens in the late 1920s. In 2000, the last resident left, and many of the remaining buildings were torn down by the government of Saskatchewan. History Upon arrival in 1908, Jim Bateman took possession of a quarter section of land on the banks of Notukeu Creek (a tributary of Wood River). In 1911, Bateman opened a post office. His daughter Lydia was sworn in as the post mistress and drove up to St. Boswells, northwest of Bateman, with her father to pick up the community's first mail bag. Saskatchewan Transportation Company
The Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) was a Crown corporation in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan responsible for operating intercity bus routes in the province from 1946 to 2017. Created in 1946 by an Order in Council giving the company a mandate to provide service between major urban centres and to as much of the rural population as possible, STC was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan. The government of Saskatchewan announced on March 22, 2017 that it planned to shut down STC by the end of May 2017.
