Mexico National American Football Team
The Mexico national American football team (Spanish: ''Selección de fútbol americano de México'') represents Mexico in international American football competitions. The team is controlled by the Mexican American Football Federation. Mexico has participated in competitions such as the Aztec Bowl, the IFAF World Championship, and the IFAF Junior World Championship. Mexico finished second place in both the 1999 and 2003 IFAF World Championship, losing both times to Japan. They did not participate in 2007 but returned to competition in the 2011 Championship. They returned to the podium at the 2015 IFAF World Championship, where they won a bronze medal. The selected players are usually from teams in ONEFA, Mexico's main college football league. The national flag of Mexico ( es, Bandera de México) is a vertical tricolor of green, white, and red with the national coat of arms charged in the center of the white stripe. 2014 IFAF U-19 World Championship
The 2014 IFAF U19 World Championship was the third edition of the IFAF U19 World Championship, an international American football tournament for junior teams (19 years and under, or high school football-aged in the United States). It was hosted by Kuwait from July 7 to July 16, with four games each day of the 7th, 10th, 13th, and two medal games each on the 15th and 16th. The 2007 IFAF World Championship was the third instance of the IFAF World Championship, the quadrennial international American football world championship tournament. It was held July 7–15, 2007 in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan. Japan National American Football Team
The Japan national American football team represents Japan in international American football competitions. The team is controlled by the Japan American Football Association, and has been one of the world's strongest international teams since it began participating regularly in international tournaments in the 1990s, and currently possesses the second most American Football World Cups (1999, 2003). Japan won the inaugural 1999 IFAF World Championship and won again in 2003. In 2007 they advanced to the final, losing to the United States 23–20 in overtime. IFAF Junior World Championship
The IFAF Junior World Championship or IFAF Junior World Cup is a biennial competition for American football which ran from 2009 to 2020 and was the precursor of the quadrennial IFAF U20 World Cup with the first event scheduled for 2024 in Canada. IFAF U19 World Cup The IFAF U19 World Cup is the precursor of the IFAF U20 World Cup. The U19 World Cup was the world championship of American football for players under the age of 19 organized by the International Federation of American Football. From 2012 through 2018, the age designation "U-19" was used in the tournament title. Aztec Bowl (game)
The Aztec Bowl is an NCAA-sanctioned college division/minor (prior to 1997); AFCA Division III (since 1997) Division II/III (since 2011) post-season bowl game that has been played intermittently since 1947. From 1947 to 1949 the event was called the Silver Bowl, and in 1950 the name was changed to the Aztec Bowl. With but one exception, all of the games have been played at locations in Mexico; the exception was the 1957 game played in San Antonio, Texas. The World University American Football Championship is an international college American football competition sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and sanctioned by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF).
