Mexico City International Film Festival
Mexico City International Film Festival, or FICC (''Festival Internacional de Cine en la Ciudad de México'') for its initials in Spanish, was an annual film festival that began in February 2011. It quickly become one of the most important film festivals in Latin America. It was hosted by Cinemark, one of the three dominant movie theater chains in Mexico. It lasted two weeks and programmed sections on documentary features, fiction, worldwide premieres, retrospectives, and global tendencies in cinema. The jury was composed of important figures of the film industry worldwide. In the 1st edition of 2011 it programmed documentary retrospectives on MUNAL, a Cuban film retrospective. A documentary film or documentary is a non-fictional film, motion-picture intended to "document reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education or maintaining a Recorded history, historical record". MUNAL
The Museo Nacional de Arte (MUNAL) ( en, National Museum of Art) is the Mexican national art museum, located in the historical center of Mexico City. The museum is housed in a neoclassical building at No. 8 Tacuba, Col. Centro, Mexico City. It includes a large collection representing the history of Mexican art from the mid-sixteenth century to the mid 20th century. It is recognizable by Manuel Tolsá's large equestrian statue of Charles IV of Spain, who was the monarch just before Mexico gained its independence. It was originally in the Zocalo but it was moved to several locations, not out of deference to the king but rather to conserve a piece of art, according to the plaque at the base. Cinema Of Cuba
Cinema arrived in Cuba at the beginning of the 20th century. Before the Cuban Revolution of 1959, about 80 full-length films were produced in Cuba. Most of these films were melodramas. Following the revolution, Cuba entered what is considered the "Golden age" of Cuban cinema. Early stages After being popularised by the brothers Louis Jean and Auguste Marie Lumière, the cinematographe traveled through several capital cities in different American countries before arriving in Havana, which occurred on January 24, 1897. It was brought from Mexico by Gabriel Veyre. The first presentation was offered at Paseo del Prado #126, just aside the Teatro Tacón. Four short films were shown: ''Partida de cartas'', ''El tren'', ''El regador y el muchacho'' y ''El sombrero cómico''. Shorts México
The Mexico International Short Film Festival - Shorts México - is a film festival exclusively dedicated to short films in Mexico. Since 2006, it has been held annually during the first week of September in Mexico City, in addition to having a national and international Tour, which takes Mexican short films to venues in Mexico City, other cities in the country and in the world. It is a festival certified by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences (AMACC). This means that by submitting a short film at this festival, one can register and be considered for the Ariel Award. The 15th edition of Shorts México (FICMEX) will take place from September 2 to 9, 2020.
