The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (''Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes'', SICT) of Mexico is the national federal entity that regulates commercial road traffic and broadcasting. Its headquarters are in the Torre Libertad on Reforma in Mexico City but some aspects of the department still function at the old headquarters located at the intersection of Eje Central and Eje 4 Sur (Xola). The building is decorated with murals created by arranging small colored stones on the building's outer walls. Historical nomenclature The forerunner of the modern-day SCT was created in 1891 under President of Mexico, President Porfirio Díaz and was known as the Secretariat of Communications ''(Secretaría de Comunicaciones)''; its first incumbent as secretary was Manuel González Cosío. List Of Mexican Federal Highways
This is a list of numbered federal highways (''carreteras federales'') in Mexico. Federal Highways from north to south are assigned odd numbers; highways from west to east are assigned even numbers. The numbering scheme starts in the northwest of the country (in Tijuana, Baja California). The highest designation, Mexican Federal Highway 307, is assigned to roads hugging the coast of Quintana Roo and the international border in Chiapas. This list identifies the road starting point at the north or the west point of the highway and terminus at its eastern or southern point. Motorways and roads with restricted access are considered part of the Federal Highways network and follow the same numbering schema. San Pablo Huitzo
San Pablo Huitzo (commonly referred to as Huitzo) is a town and municipality in Oaxaca in south-western Mexico. The municipality covers an area of 63.80 km². It is part of the Etla District in the Valles Centrales region. As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 5,242. History The area comprising Huitzo was inhabited as early as 1200 BCE. By 1400 AD a Zapotec village existed that was known by the name of ''Huijazoo'', a word that means ''Warrior Watchtower'' in the Zapotec language. In 1522 Spanish troops arrived and founded the current city, giving it the name ''Gueixolotitlan''. However, by 1700 the name ''Huitzo'' had been adopted by the populace. When the first Roman Catholic monks arrived to evangelize the local population, they selected St. Paul the Apostle ''(San Pablo, in Spanish)'' as the patron saint of the village and erected a church by the same name.
