Metropolitan Library System
The Metropolitan Library System (MLS) was an association of academic, public, school, and special libraries in Chicago and its suburbs in Cook, DuPage and Will counties. On July 1, 2011, Metropolitan Library System merged with Alliance Library System, DuPage Library System, North Suburban Library System, and Prairie Area Library System to form the Reaching Across Illinois Library System. Major League Soccer (MLS) is a men's professional soccer league sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, which represents the sport's highest level in the United States. Reaching Across Illinois Library System
The Reaching Across Illinois Library System is a regional library system consisting of 1,250 public, academic, special, and school library members, representing more than 4,000 library facilities in Northern, West-central Illinois. The regional library system was created in 2011 when the Alliance Library System, DuPage Library System, Metropolitan Library System, North Suburban Library System, and Prairie Area Library System merged. In Illinois, regional library systems were established by state law. Member libraries must certify that they meet membership requirements annually. The Grande Prairie Public Library serves the communities of Hazel Crest, Illinois, and Country Club Hills, Illinois. It is located at 3479 W. 183rd Street in Hazel Crest, in the south suburbs of Chicago. The library is a member of the Metropolitan Library System. Richton Park Public Library District
The Richton Park Library District was founded in 1972 when village trustees rented a storefront at 22365 Governors Highway in Richton Park, Illinois. Volunteers had to engage in extensive cleaning and renovation in order to convert the former coffee-house into a library. They constructed shelves for the books, and furniture was donated. Books were obtained through donations from area residents, the Suburban Library System, and the Illinois State Library. Fundraisers, including bake sales, book sales, and paper drives were held to secure additional funding. Upon opening, the library was staffed entirely with volunteers. In 1974, village residents approved a referendum to establish the Richton Park Public Library District. With rapid growth of the library, village residents and staff realized that the storefront facility was inadequate.
