Metropolitan Amateur
The Metropolitan Amateur or Met Amateur is an amateur golf tournament organized by the Metropolitan Golf Association. It has been played annually since 1899 and is one of the oldest amateur golf tournaments in the United States along with the U.S. Amateur and the Western Amateur. It is held at member clubs in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Golf
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Golf, unlike most ball games, cannot and does not use a standardized playing area, and coping with the varied terrains encountered on different courses is a key part of the game. Courses typically have either 18 or 9 ''holes'', regions of terrain that each contain a ''cup'', the hole that receives the ball. Each hole on a course contains a teeing ground to start from, and a putting green containing the cup. There are several standard forms of terrain between the tee and the green, such as the fairway, rough (tall grass), and various ''hazards'' such as water, rocks, or sand-filled ''bunkers''. Dennis Hillman (golfer)
Dennis Victor Hillman (27 November 1918 – 22 December 1994) was an English footballer who played in the Football League as an outside right for Colchester United and Gillingham. Career Born in Southend-on-Sea, Hillman began his career with Brighton & Hove Albion, although he failed to break into the first-team with the club, opting to return to Essex with Colchester United shortly after World War II in 1946. He would go on to make 107 Southern League appearances for the club and appeared on four occasions in the Football League after Colchester's election in 1950. Hillman made his Southern League debut on 28 September 1946 in a 3–2 home victory against Worcester City and scored his first goal for the club in a 3–3 draw at Bath City on 2 November of the same year. Montford Johnson Wagner (born March 23, 1980) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Early years and amateur career Wagner was born in Amarillo, Texas and grew up in upstate New York, where his father taught computer sciences at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He caddied for three summers at Hudson National in Westchester County, New York. Wagner attended Virginia Tech, where he was a member of the golf team. Andrew Svoboda (born October 2, 1979) is an American professional golfer. Svoboda was born in New Rochelle, New York. He played college golf at St. John's University in New York City. He won 14 college tournaments including the 2001 Big East Conference Championship. Svoboda played on the Hooters Tour from 2005 to 2009, winning once. In 2009, he finished 49th at Qualifying School to earn a place on the Web.com Tour, where he played from 2010 to 2012.
