Metropolis (EP)
''Metropolis'' is the sixth extended play by Los Angeles-based dubstep producer Kompany. It was released by English record label Never Say Die on February 1, 2019. It contains four songs, including features of Singer-songwriter Karra and British grime collective Virus Syndicate. Background and release As a lead up to the extended plays release, the four songs present in it were premiered on various electronic music-focused websites, with "Firewall" being premiered by ''Nest HQ'', "Seething" by ''ThisSongSlaps'', "Take It All" by ''Run the Trap'', and "Last Man Standing" by ''EDM Sauce''. Prior to release, the four tracks were only known as IDs seen in various DJ mixes and live-sets. On February 1, 2019, the extended play was released as a digital download on international digital stores through English record label Never Say Die, as well as being released through various music streaming services. Kompany (musician)
Kyle Hagberg, better known by his stage name Kompany, is a Los Angeles-based dubstep producer. He is known for his releases on the British record label Never Say Die, including his ''Revolt'', ''New Reign'', and ''Metropolis ''extended plays and his various collaborations with other Never Say Die artists. Early life Hagberg first began DJing after watching American electronic music producer Skrillex play at the Hard Summer music festival in 2011. Before starting his career in electronic music, Kyle was a drummer, but after becoming more engrossed in his hobby, he started to neglect drumming and instead chose to pursue electronic music. Although music production was just a hobby, he made the decision to study at Icon Collective, a Music school based in Los Angeles. DJ Mix
A DJ mix or DJ mixset is a sequence of musical tracks typically mixed together to appear as one continuous track. DJ mixes are usually performed using a DJ mixer and multiple sounds sources, such as turntables, CD players, digital audio players or computer sound cards, sometimes with the addition of samplers and effects units, although it is possible to create one using sound editing software. DJ mixing is significantly different from live sound mixing. Genius is an American digital media company founded on August 27, 2009, by Tom Lehman, Ilan Zechory, and Mahbod Moghadam. The site allows users to provide annotations and interpretation to song lyrics, news stories, sources, poetry, and documents. Originally launched as Rap Genius with a focus on hip-hop music, the company attracted the attention and support of celebrities, and venture capital enabling further growth. The site expanded in 2014 to cover other forms of media, such as pop, literature, R&B, and added an annotation-embedded platform. That same year, an iPhone app was released. Trap Music (EDM)
EDM trap is a fusion genre of hip hop, rave music and EDM, that originated in the early 2010s on peaking popularity of big room house and trap music genres. It blends elements of trap, which is an offshoot of Southern hip hop, with elements of electronic dance music like build-ups, drops, and breakdowns. Owsla (stylized in all caps) is an American record label and creative collective. It was founded by Skrillex, Tim Smith, Kathryn Frazier, and Clayton Blaha in 2011. Skrillex announced the label on August 17, 2011. The label's first release was Porter Robinson's ''Spitfire''. The name "Owsla" is a reference to Richard Adams' fantasy novel ''Watership Down'', in which it refers to the governing caste in a society of anthropomorphized rabbits.
