Metro Claremont
Metro FC (formerly Metro Claremont Football Club) is a football club formed in 1941 in the northern suburb of Claremont, Hobart, Tasmania. They play at North Chigwell Oval. It has a range of teams for all ages and genders playing in competitions run by the Football Federation Tasmania. Its teams range from under 7s right through to seniors. The teams' colours are yellow and blue. Metro were relegated to the Southern Division 1 competition in 2008 and have placed 2nd in all but 2 seasons. In 2010 Metro narrowly missed out on promotion to the Southern Tasmanian Premier League, that point the highest league on offer in Tasmania coming second behind Beachside with only one spot for promotion on offer. Metro had a very successful 2014 season taking out the State Vase Cup and Division 1 and 2 championships getting promoted to the Southern Championship for the 2015 season. Claremont is a rural / residential locality in the local government areas (LGA) of Glenorchy (75%) and Derwent Valley (25%) in the Hobart and South-east LGA regions of Tasmania. Football Tasmania (FT) is the governing body for soccer in the Australian state of Tasmania. The federation oversees competitions across Tasmania, Tasmanian representative teams, and development of the sport in the state. The federation was known as the Tasmanian Soccer Association until 1996, when it was renamed to Soccer Tasmania. In line with national changes in March 2006, it became Football Federation Tasmania. In February 2019, the organisation became simply Football Tasmania. Soccer in Tasmania describes the sport of soccer being played and watched by people in the state of Tasmania in Australia. Beachside FC
Hobart City Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in the suburb of Sandy Bay in Hobart, Tasmania. The club's colours are green and black. The club plays its home games at Sandown Park, known to fans as the ''Tropicana Cauldron'' or simply ''The Tropicana''. In 2021, Beachside FC and Hobart City merged to form a club under the current name. The Tasmanian soccer championship describes the method of determining the best soccer club in Tasmania, Australia. The championship has been decided using three different formats; a statewide league, a playoff between Northern and Southern league Champions and lastly a statewide finals system with top teams from Northern and Southern leagues.
