''Metal'' was an Argentine heavy metal music magazine edited from 1984 to 1995. It was published by Magendra, which also published the ''Pelo'' magazine, devoted to mainstream rock and pop. ''Metal'' was the first heavy metal magazine published in Argentina. The initial interviews were taken from foreign magazines, but years later they got their own ones with correspondents, or by telephone interviews. The magazine started as a black & white publication with a few pages in color. More color pages were included as years went by. Hermética
Hermética was an Argentine thrash metal band from San Martín, Buenos Aires. It was formed by bassist Ricardo Iorio in 1987 after his previous band, V8, disbanded. Hermética was signed to the independent record label Radio Trípoli Discos throughout their career. The band's initial lineup consisted of Iorio, vocalist Claudio O'Connor, drummer Fabián Spataro and guitarist Antonio Romano. Spataro left the band in 1988 and was replaced by Antonio Scotto. This lineup recorded their eponymous album, the first thrash metal album recorded in Argentina. At this point of their career, Hermética performed mainly in Argentina, except for one concert held in Uruguay. In 1990, they released ''Intérpretes''an extended play which included covers of Argentine rock and tango songs. Argentine Heavy Metal
The Argentine heavy metal is a heavy metal music movement that originated in Argentina in the 1980s. The first popular artist was Pappo, who created the band Riff influenced by the contemporary new wave of British heavy metal. V8 was formed at that time as well, and most of its members created notable bands after their respective departures from the band: Ricardo Iorio and Walter Giardino, currently in Almafuerte and Rata Blanca, are still popular. The second half of the 1980s saw the success of hard rock bands such as Kamikaze, Alakran and Rata Blanca, with an aesthetic similar to the contemporary glam metal. Thrash metal bands, such as Hermética, Horcas and Lethal, appeared in the late 80s and early 90s. Rata Blanca declined its popularity in the 1990s and eventually broke up. Hermética became more popular than V8 during its short existence, and broke up in a controversy between the leader Ricardo Iorio and the other members. ''Madhouse'' was an Argentine heavy metal music magazine edited from 1989 to 2001. It was established by César Fuentes Rodríguez, along with other journalists from the former ''Riff Raff'' magazine. ''Madhouse'' was the first Argentine heavy metal magazine to arrange interviews with international bands, instead of translating such interviews taken from international magazines. Unlike the ''Metal'' magazine, it had an informal style and wrote harsh critics to recordings or plays they did not consider of good quality. It had a higher success as a result, and ''Metal'' ended publication in 1994. The magazine released some special editions as well, titled "''Madhouse extra''". Those special editions were specifically about a certain selected band. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. JAF (born Juan Antonio Ferreyra; July 29, 1958 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an Argentine rock singer and guitar player, who was part of the hard rock band Riff in the mid-80s. Career His first band was La Máquina Infernal. In 1979 he founded La Banda Marrón, with whom he played Deep Purple and Freddie King covers. He was invited to join Riff in the mid-80s, as rhythm guitarist and singer. After recording an album with Riff (''Riff VII'', 1985) and touring, JAF left the band and started a solo career. His first solo album ''Entrar en vos'' was released in 1989 by BMG Argentina.
