META-4 is a fictional campaign setting for the roleplaying game ''Mutants & Masterminds''. It was created by Super Unicorn members Erik Mona, Kyle Hunter, and Sean Glenn, who were the contracted design studio for the M&M 1st edition line. The setting was initially created to give the character backgrounds in the Mutants and Masterminds 1st edition core book more life. It was further detailed with a full history in ''Crooks!'' Inhabitants The META-4 Agency META-4 is a government agency much like the CIA, whose task is to oversee superhuman activities. The agency consists of both human and superhuman operatives. Green Ronin Publishing is an American company based in Seattle, Washington. Founded in 2000 by Chris Pramas and Nicole Lindroos, they have published several role-playing game–related products. They won several awards for their games including multiple Origins, ENnie, Pen & Paper, and Inquest Fan Awards. History In early 1996, Chris Pramas acquired '' The Whispering Vault'' rights from Mike Nystul and formed Ronin Publishing with his brother, Jason Pramas, and their mutual friend, Neal Darcy. The company published two role playing game supplements, ''The Book of Hunts'' (1997) for ''The Whispering Vault'' and '' Blood of the Valiant'' for '' Feng Shui''. A campaign setting is usually a fictional world which serves as a setting for a role-playing game or wargame campaign. ''Mutants & Masterminds'' (abbreviated "M&M" or "MnM") is a superhero role-playing game written by Steve Kenson and published by Green Ronin Publishing based on a variant of the d20 System by Wizards of the Coast. Erik Mona
Erik Mona (born April 1974) is an American game designer who lives in Seattle, Washington. Career Mona was the Managing Editor of issues 1 and 2 of the '' Oerth Journal'', an online publication devoted to the ''World of Greyhawk'' campaign setting, and the Editor-in-Chief from issues 2–7. Mona had the opportunity to talk to designers like Robert Kuntz on the GreyTalk mailing list in 1990s, where Kuntz shared stories of the early days of the Greyhawk campaigns. Mona became the head publisher of Paizo in April 2006. Mona served as the editor-in-chief of the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' role-playing game magazines '' Dragon'' beginning in 2004 and ''Dungeon'' from 2004 to 2006; at the time, both magazines were published by Paizo until the license through Wizards of the Coast expired in September 2007.
