Mestský futbalový štadión is a multi-use stadium in Dubnica nad Váhom, Slovakia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of MFK Dubnica. The stadium holds 5,450 people. The intensity of the floodlighting is 1,400 lux. History The stadium was built in 1942 and used for football matches of MFK Dubnica sport club. Dubnica Nad Váhom
Dubnica nad Váhom (; Slovak before 1927: ''Dubnica'', german: Dubnitz an der Waag, hu, Máriatölgyes, before 1899 ''Dubnic(z)'') is a town in the Ilava District, Trenčín Region in Slovakia. Geography It is located on the Váh river, in the Ilava Basin, between the White Carpathians and Strážovské vrchy mountains, at an altitude of 242 metres. The town's cadastral area is composed of Dubnica and "city part" Prejta, annexed in 1973. History Traces of settlement in the place of today's town are from the Stone Age. The first written mention about Dubnica nad Váhom was in 1193 as ''Dubnicza''. Sometime in the 15th century the village passed to the rule of the Trenčín Castle. After incorporation into Czechoslovakia, construction of a munition factory was negotiated in 1928 and built in 1936. During the Second World War, a Roma concentration camp was set up in the town. FK Dubnica
FK Dubnica is a Slovak football club, playing in the city of Dubnica nad Váhom. History FK Dubnica was founded in 1926 and spent much of its early years playing in the regional Czechoslovakian leagues until 1977 where they were finally promoted to the national first division and finished a respectable 9th in their first season. The team continued in top flight football for 10 years before being relegated in 1987 and it would be at least another 10 years before the team would play at the highest national level again but this time in the independent state of Slovakia. In 1996 Dubnica gained its promotion from the Slovak second division to form part of a newly structured league consisting of one league and 15 other teams. Ján Ďurica (born 10 December 1981) is a Slovak former professional footballer who played as a central defender. He worked as assistant manager of FC Petržalka. Club career Ďurica moved to FC Saturn Moscow Oblast after a highly successful UEFA Champions League campaign with FC Artmedia Bratislava. On 31 January 2009, Ďurica signed a three-year contract with Lokomotiv Moscow, who have paid around €3.5 million to overtake Celtic and Panathinaikos in the auction for the Slovakia national. Filip Hološko (; born 17 January 1984) is a Slovak former professional footballer who played as a forward or winger. Martin Škrtel (born 15 December 1984) is a Slovak former professional footballer, a former player and captain of the Slovakia national team and Liverpool Football Club. Marek Sapara (born 31 July 1982) is a Slovak professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for OŠK Bešeňová. He was an assistant manager at MFK Ružomberok. Sapara appeared at the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Stanislav Šesták (; born 16 December 1982) is a retired Slovak football striker, manager, as well as a club official and a local politician. Šesták last managed Slovakia's oldest club Tatran Prešov in 3. Liga - East. Club career Slovakia Šesták made his first football steps in Demjata, where he played one season in local club FK Demjata, in team U15. His parents took him to youth camp of 1. FC Tatran Prešov.
