Merwin Graham
Merwin ("Marvin") B. Graham (March 4, 1903 – January 24, 1989) was an American track and field athlete who competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics. He was born in Fairview, West Virginia, attended high school in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and later attended the University of Kansas, where he was a member of the KU track team. In 1924 he finished ninth in the Olympic triple jump competition in Paris, France. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. 1924 Summer Olympics
The 1924 Summer Olympics (french: Jeux olympiques d'été de 1924), officially the Games of the VIII Olympiad (french: Jeux de la VIIIe olympiade) and also known as Paris 1924, were an international multi-sport event held in Paris, France. The opening ceremony was held on 5 July, but some competitions had already started on 4 May. The Games were the second to be hosted by Paris (after 1900), making it the first city to host the Olympics twice. The selection process for the 1924 Summer Olympics consisted of six bids, and Paris was selected ahead of Amsterdam, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Prague, and Rome.
