Meriter Hospital
UnityPoint Meriter Hospital (Formerly Meriter Hospital) is a nonprofit hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, United States. It is operated by UnityPoint Health. A teaching hospital of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, it has 448 beds. The hospital, the fifth largest in the state, serves southern Wisconsin and northwestern Illinois. On Wednesday October 9, 2013, the board of Meriter Health Services voted to join UnityPoint Health. The Meriter hospital will have a governing board that allows it to retain some autonomy. Madison Metro
Madison Metro Transit operates a bus service throughout the City of Madison, Wisconsin, United States and most of its immediate suburbs, including the City of Middleton, Fitchburg, Maple Bluff, Shorewood Hills, Sun Prairie, Verona, and a small portion of McFarland. System-wide, fixed route ridership was 13,385,628 in 2018. Metro Transit also provides supplemental transit services to some Madison middle and high schools. Several schools have switched to yellow buses in 2019. These routes are open to the general public, but have been designed to provide additional services during peak school times. UnityPoint Health (known as Iowa Health System until 2013) is a network of hospitals, clinics and home care services in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. The system began in 1993, when Iowa Lutheran Hospital and Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines merged, forming the state's largest provider of hospital and related health services. A teaching hospital is a hospital or medical centre that provides medical education and training to future and current health professionals. Teaching hospitals are almost always affiliated with one or more universities and are often co-located with medical schools.
