Mereenie Oil Field
Mereenie is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is about 250 km west of Alice Springs and northeast of Uluru. It is on the "Inner Mereenie Loop" road which was completed as a sealed road in 2016 providing access for caravans and two-wheel-drive vehicles. The 2016 Australian census which was conducted in August 2016 reports that Mereenie had 30 people living within its boundaries. Mereenie is located within the federal division of Lingiari, the territory electoral division of Stuart and the local government area of the MacDonnell Region. Mereenie Oil Field The Mereenie Oil Field is a source of oil and gas in the Amadeus Basin. It is connected to Darwin by the Amadeus Gas Pipeline and to Alice Springs by an oil pipeline. Natural-gas condensate, also called natural gas liquids, is a low-density mixture of hydrocarbon liquids that are present as gaseous components in the raw natural gas produced from many natural gas fields. Amadeus Gas Pipeline
The Amadeus Gas Pipeline is a bi-directional natural gas pipeline running north–south through the Northern Territory of Australia. Its southern extent is the Amadeus Basin gas fields west of Alice Springs. The Amadeus pipeline is owned and operated by APA Group, and regulated by the Australian Energy Regulator. The Amadeus Gas Pipeline was originally built to transport gas north from the Palm Valley and Mereenie gas fields in the Amadeus Basin to fuel electricity generation in Katherine and Darwin. Since 2008, it has also carried gas sourced from the Blacktip gas field in the Bonaparte Basin which is delivered from Wadeye by the Bonaparte Gas Pipeline to the Amadeus pipeline at Ban Ban Springs near Burrundie. Amadeus Basin
The Amadeus Basin is a large (~170,000 km2) intracratonic sedimentary basin in central Australia, lying mostly within the southern Northern Territory, but extending into the state of Western Australia. Origins The Amadeus Basin is named after Lake Amadeus which lies within the basin. Local deposition of up to 14 km of marine and non-marine sedimentary rocks took place from the Neoproterozoic to the late Paleozoic. The Division of Lingiari is an Australian electoral division in the Northern Territory that covers the entirety of the territory outside of the Division of Solomon, which covers Darwin and surrounding areas. The division also includes the Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Lingiari includes all of the Northern Territory's remote Indigenous communities, most of whom vote when visited by mobile polling teams during the election campaign. 2016 Australian Census
The 2016 Australian census was the 17th national population census held in Australia. The census was officially conducted with effect on Tuesday, 9 August 2016. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as – an increase of 8.8 per cent or people over the .
