Mercury Steam Entertainment S.L., Trade name, doing business as MercurySteam, is a Spanish video game developer based in San Sebastián de los Reyes, Community of Madrid, Madrid. The company was founded by former members of Rebel Act Studios, who previously developed ''Severance: Blade of Darkness'' in 2001. Dave Cox is a producer at Konami who has helped out MercurySteam during the ''Castlevania: Lords of Shadow'' trilogy. In 2015, Nintendo Life reported that MercurySteam had worked on a ''Metroid'' prototype for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, that was later turned down and possibly retrofitted into a different project. It was later revealed that they had pitched for a remake of ''Metroid Fusion''. This pitch was rejected, but because series creator Yoshio Sakamoto was impressed by the pitch and the team's love of ''Metroid'', they were hired to collaborate on ''Metroid: Samus Returns'' instead. Samus Returns
''Metroid: Samus Returns'' is a 2017 action-adventure game developed by MercurySteam and Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS handheld game console. It is a remake of the 1991 Game Boy game '' Metroid II: Return of Samus''. Players control series protagonist Samus Aran, a bounty hunter who is contracted by the Galactic Federation to exterminate the parasitic Metroid species on their home planet of SR388. While the story and structure parallel the original game, ''Samus Returns'' features redone graphics, updated controls and user interface, and new gameplay mechanics not seen in previous 2D ''Metroid'' titles, such as a melee counterattack and the ability to aim freely at any angle. Lords Of Shadow
''Castlevania: Lords of Shadow'' is an action-adventure video game developed by MercurySteam and Kojima Productions, published by Konami and released on October 5, 2010, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PC version was released on August 27, 2013. The game is a reboot of the ''Castlevania'' series. Set in Southern Europe during the Middle Ages, the story focuses on Gabriel Belmont and his quest to defeat a malevolent order known as the Lords of Shadow and resurrect his wife. The player controls Gabriel in 3D environments as he uses melee skills to defeat enemies and solves puzzles to move through the game. The game was originally announced as ''Lords of Shadow'' with no connection to the ''Castlevania'' series mentioned. This was done to keep their plans to radically change the direction of the ''Castlevania'' mythos a secret and to prevent the announcement of the game from upstaging another series release, ''Castlevania Judgment''.
