Gangsås
Gangsås or Gansås is a part of the town of Harstad within Harstad Municipality in Troms county, Norway. It is situated on the southern and western sides of a small peninsula southeast of the city center. The main neighbourhoods are ''Vollen'' (inhabited since 1975) and ''Øvre Gangsås'' (''Upper Gangsås'') (established in the 1980s). Gangsås is bounded by Stangnes to the east, Åsby and Kanebogen to the south, and Vågsfjorden to the northwest. Gangsåstoppen The ending ''ås'' in Gangsås means ''hill'', and the top of the hill is called ''Gangsåstoppen''. It is uninhabited, has an elevation of approximately above sea level, and has one of the best views of the city (to the west) and the surrounding areas, including the hills Middagsfjellet and Hinnstein. Mercur, Utah
Mercur is a historical hard rock mining ghost town in Tooele County, Utah, United States. In 1891, it became the site of the first successful use of the cyanide process of gold extraction in the United States, the dominant metallurgy today. Its elevation above sea level is approximately 2,042 m. The nearby Mercur Gold Mine was re-opened by Barrick Gold in 1985, with mining operations again coming to an end in 1997. The reclamation and restoration project was set to continue up to 2010. History The town first came into being in 1870 as ''Lewiston'' (not to be confused with the present-day city of Lewiston in Cache County), when gold was discovered at the head of the Lewiston Canyon, six miles west of present-day Cedar Fort. A small gold rush began, peaking about 1873; the population reached as high as 2000. During the mid-1870s, silver boomed, and silver mines were opened and quartz mills to process the ore were built. Ulysses Mercur (August 12, 1818 – June 6, 1887) was a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania and chief justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Magirus Mercur
The Magirus Mercur is a German 5 ton truck that was built by Magirus Deutz in Germany from 1951 to 1972. Other series from this manufacturer were also named after stars and planets, possibly because of the "sun and planet" gears at the rear axle. Increasingly heavy trucks were named Magirus Sirius, Mercur, Saturn, Jupiter, Pluto and Uranus. The trucks were equipped with different variations of air cooled Diesel engines, from 4R to V12. The initially round hood ("Rundhauber") that inspired from the Volkswagen Beetle was eventually changed to a square design ("Eckhauber") in all wheel drive models to facilitate body flexing off road. Radio Mercur
Radio Mercur was a Danish offshore broadcasting commercial radio station. It started regular transmission on 2 August 1958 and ceased officially on 31 July 1962, followed by 3 days of transmissions from 13 to 15 August 1962. Later broadcasting took place under the name of Radio Mercur in Majorca from 1969–70 and again on the Spanish Costa del Sol from 1982–84 and finally in Copenhagen, Denmark as a local radio station from 1987-94. Songa Mercur
The Songa Mercur is a semi-submersible drilling rig designed by Friede & Goldman, ex ''Shelf 10'' and ''La Muralla''. It is capable of drilling in water up to a depth of . In May 2006, Songa Offshore signed a nine-month contract with Chevron to use the rig in Australia. A contract was later signed with Santos Limited, which was originally nine months and was extended to a year and then a year and a half. In 2013, the rig was contracted by Idemitsu Oil and Gas for drilling off Vietnam. In 2014, Songa Offshore sold the rig to Opus Offshore as a part of the deal creating Songa-Opus joint venture.
