Mercer County is a county on the southeastern border of the U.S. state of West Virginia. At the 2020 census, the population was 59,664. Its county seat is Princeton. The county was originally established in the State of Virginia by act of its General Assembly on March 17, 1837, (WV County Etymology) using lands taken from Giles and Tazewell counties. Bluefield High School
Bluefield High School (BHS) is a public secondary school in Bluefield, West Virginia, United States. It is part of Mercer County Public Schools and is located at 535 West Cumberland Road. As of the 2018-2019 school year, enrollment was 609 students. The school built a new library in 1998, which was later named after longtime librarian Mary Chmara. History Originally Beaver High School, named for the Beaver Pond District and the future mascot, the downtown high school was established in 1903, in the fast-developing Bluefield, West Virginia. Its first graduate was in 1907, Mary Aaron. The first class, composed of ten students, graduated in 1910. Montcalm High School
Montcalm High School, a "school within a school", is located in Montcalm, West Virginia, United States. It is the smallest secondary school in the Mercer County Schools district, and currently has approximately 375 students enrolled in grades 7-12. History MHS began in 1931, housing grades 7-10. 11th and 12th grade students went on to Bramwell High School. In 1954, a west wing was added to accommodate much needed classrooms, which allowed students to graduate from this school for the first time. In 1964, a gymnasium was built. PikeView High School is a public high school serving grades 912, located in Mercer County, West Virginia, United States. PikeView High School is administered by Mercer County Schools. PikeView High School has an enrollment of 750 students and 60 staff members. The current principal is Anna Lilly.
