"Mercedes Boy" is a song by American singer Pebbles from her 1987 self-titled debut studio album. The song was written by the singer and produced by Charlie Wilson, with additional production from Pebbles. "Mercedes Boy" was released as the album's second single on March 7, 1988, by the MCA label. "Mercedes Boy" was a big hit in the United States, peaking at number two on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Perri Arlette Reid (née McKissack; August 29, 1964), known professionally as the recording artist Pebbles, is an American recording artist, singer-songwriter, businesswoman, record producer, and music executive. Reid is known for her hit songs during the late 1980s and early 1990s such as "Girlfriend (Pebbles song), Girlfriend" (1987), "Mercedes Boy" (1988), "Giving You the Benefit" (1990), "Love Makes Things Happen", (1990), and "Backyard (Pebbles song), Backyard" (1991). Raquel Miller (born May 1, 1978), better known by her stage name Mercedes, is an American singer, rapper and R&B recording artist from Detroit, MI. Yolanda Whitaker, also known as Yo-Yo (born August 4, 1971) is an American rapper and actress. Much of Yo-Yo's music advocates female empowerment. She is the protégé of gangsta rapper Ice Cube.
