Edoardo Menichelli
Edoardo Menichelli (born 14 October 1939) is an Italian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Ancona-Osimo from 2004 to 2017. Pope Francis made him a cardinal on 14 February 2015. Biography Early life Edoardo Menichelli was born in Serripola in San Severino Marche in province of Macerata and the Diocese of San Severino Marche on 14 October 1939. He studied theology and philosophy at institutional seminars of San Severino Marche and Fano and then at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, where he obtained a licentiate in pastoral theology. Priesthood and career On 3 July 1965 he was ordered a priest of the Diocese of San Severino Marche. Franco Menichelli
Franco Menichelli (born 3 August 1941) is a retired Italian gymnast. He competed in all artistic gymnastics events at the 1960, 1964 and 1968 Olympics and won one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals. Biography He was most successful in 1964, when he won a gold on the floor, a silver on rings and a bronze on parallel bars. He severely injured an Achilles tendon on landing during the floor exercise at the 1968 Olympics, and retired shortly thereafter. From 1973 to 1979 he coached the national gymnastics team. In 2003 he was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. His brother Giampaolo Menichelli was an international football player. Giampaolo Menichelli (; born 29 June 1938) is a former Italian footballer, who played as a winger. Menichelli was a fast, agile winger, with good technical ability, and he was known for mainly being a team player, despite also having an eye for goal. His brother Franco was an Olympic champion in gymnastics. Club career Menichelli played for 12 seasons (261 games, 60 goals) in the Serie A for A.S. Roma, A.C. Parma, Juventus F.C., Brescia Calcio and Cagliari Calcio. Whilst at Roma, he formed a notable partnership with fellow winger Alberto Orlando, winning the 1960–61 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.
