Menhat Helmy
Menhat Helmy (1925-2004) was an artist and pioneer in Egyptian etchings and printmaking. Early life and education Menhat Helmy was born in Helwan, Egypt in on July 11, 1925 as the middle child in a family of seven sisters and two brothers. She graduated from Cairo's High Institute of Pedagogic Studies for Art in 1949 before continuing her education abroad at the Slade School of Fine Art between 1953–55, where she focused on drawing, painting, and etching. She later studied coloured graphics at Morley College in London during her second stay in London between 1973-79. Career Along with likes of Hussein El Gebaly, Abdullah Gohar, and Mariam A. Aleem, Helmy was part of a pioneering generation of artists who played a pivotal role in the field. The UCL Slade School of Fine Art (informally The Slade) is the art school of University College London (UCL) and is based in London, England. An artist is a person engaged in an activity related to creating art, practicing the arts, or demonstrating an art. The common usage in both everyday speech and academic discourse refers to a practitioner in the visual arts only. Printmakers Council
The London-based Printmakers Council, founded in 1965, aims to promote the art of printmaking (through providing information, encouraging co-operation and holding exhibitions) and the work of contemporary printmakers. Their office is situated in Bermondsey, London. Membership is open to artists, students and interested individuals as friends. One of the founding members and a Chairman in 1981-1983 was Agathe Sorel, a London-based artist of Hungarian descent, specializing in painting, sculpture and printmaking. Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi
Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi ( ar, سلطان سعود القاسمي) is an Emirati educator, art collector, scholar, and columnist. As an Al-Qassemi, he is a member of the ruling family of Sharjah. Al-Qassemi is an influential commentator on Arab affairs, and is known for his use of social media—Twitter in particular. He has been described by numerous media outlets as a prominent voice during the events of the Arab Spring. In 2010, he founded the Barjeel Art Foundation, an organization dedicated to art of North Africa and West Asia based in Sharjah. Al-Qassemi is increasingly regarded as an authority on modern and contemporary art in the region. Helwan University is a public university based in Helwan, Egypt, which is part of Greater Cairo on over . It comprises 23 faculties and two higher institutes in addition to 50 research centers. Overview Helwan University is a member of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities. It was established on July 26, 1980 by Act No. 70 of 1975 over 350 acres of land. The Accademia delle Arti del Disegno ("Academy of the Arts of Drawing") is an academy of artists in Florence, Italy. Founded as Accademia e Compagnia delle Arti del Disegno ("Academy and Company of the Arts of Drawing") on 13 January 1563 by Cosimo I de' Medici, under the influence of Giorgio Vasari, it was made up of two parts: the Company was a kind of guild for all working artists, while the Academy was for more eminent artistic personalities of Cosimo's court, and supervised artistic production in Tuscany.
