Mendy López Aude (born October 15, 1973) is a Dominican professional baseball player and coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates. As an infielder, López played in Major League Baseball for the Kansas City Royals, Florida Marlins, Houston Astros, and Pittsburgh Pirates from 1998 to 2004 and for the Samsung Lions of the KBO League in 2004. Career López was signed as an amateur free agent by the Kansas City Royals on February 26, . He is often referred to as a "journeyman", a title bestowed upon those in the sports world who play on several different teams within a short amount of time. Estrellas Orientales (English: Eastern Stars), also known as Estrellas de Oriente, is a baseball team in the Dominican Winter League. Based in San Pedro de Macorís, the team has historically struggled, winning championships only in 1936, 1954, 1968 and 2019. History The team was established on 15 December 1910 with the idea of competing against Tigres del Licey, that dominated the Dominican League during those years. The KBO League () is a professional baseball league in South Korea. The league comprises ten teams. Dominican Professional Baseball League
The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League ( or LIDOM) is a professional baseball winter league consisting of six teams spread across the Dominican Republic; it is the highest level of professional baseball played in the Dominican Republic. The league's players include many prospects that go on to play Major League Baseball in the United States while also signing many current MLB veterans. The champion of LIDOM advances to play in the yearly Caribbean Series. Each team plays a fifty-game round-robin schedule that begins in mid October and runs to the end of December. The Águilas Cibaeñas (; ''Cibaoan Eagles'') is a professional baseball team in the Dominican Republic's Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), based in Santiago in the northern region of Cibao.
