Mendlesham Transmitting Station
The Mendlesham transmitting station is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility, situated close to the village of Mendlesham, near the town of Stowmarket, in Suffolk, United Kingdom (). It is owned and operated by Arqiva. It has a high guyed steel lattice mast. Constructed in 1959, it came into service on 27 October of that year. It was at the time the highest television mast to be constructed in Europe and the first of six of the same height subsequently used at other Independent Television Authority stations. It was fabricated in Hereford from zinc-galvanised steel, and was erected by British Insulated Callender's Construction Co. (BICC), now known as Balfour Beatty. It was originally commissioned to bring ITV signals (provided by Anglia Television) to East Anglia, including Norfolk, Suffolk and parts of Essex and Cambridgeshire on 405-line VHF, using Channel 11 (Band III). Mendlesham
Mendlesham is a village in Suffolk with 1,407 inhabitants at the 2011 census. It lies north east of Stowmarket and from London. The place-name 'Mendlesham' is first attested in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it appears as ''Melnesham'' and ''Mundlesham''. The name means 'Myndel's village'. Mendlesham is known for its large street fair which is held on every May Day bank holiday. Tacolneston Transmitting Station
The Tacolneston transmitting station is a facility for both analogue and digital VHF/ FM radio and UHF television transmission near Tacolneston, south-west of Norwich, Norfolk, England. It includes a tall guyed steel lattice mast, which was built between 2009 and 2012, and previously a tall guyed steel lattice mast, which was built in 1956 (completed in late September/early October that year). Kiss is a British digital radio station owned and operated by Bauer as part of the Kiss Network. It is primarily aimed at the 15-34 age group and broadcasts nationally to the UK on DAB Digital Radio, as well as on FM in London, Bristol and the Severn Estuary, and East Anglia. BBC National DAB is a digital audio broadcasting multiplex in the UK, for a number of radio stations which have UK wide coverage. The multiplex is owned and operated by the BBC and is transmitted from a number of transmitter sites across the country; it only carries BBC radio stations. As of the end of 2017, more than 97% of the UK's population are within reach of the multiplex following the completion of the switching on of a fourth set of new transmitters over the previous two years which had seen the reach increase from 93%. Digital One is a national commercial digital radio multiplex in the United Kingdom, owned by Arqiva. , the multiplex covered more than 90% of the population from 137 transmitters. Coverage was extended to Northern Ireland in July 2013. It contains a list of DAB and DAB+ radio stations operated by Bauer Media Audio UK, Global and Wireless Group. In telecommunications and computer networking, multiplexing (sometimes contracted to muxing) is a method by which multiple analog or digital signals are combined into one signal over a shared medium. The aim is to share a scarce resource - a physical transmission medium. For example, in telecommunications, several telephone calls may be carried using one wire.
